Some Odd Girl Challenge...A Fab Sketch...P.S. I {Heart} You!!

Photobucket
Hello crafty friends! Hope you are going to have a little turkey this Thanksgiving long weekend with friends and family and enjoy the glorious weather we are having. I wish we could just forgo winter all together and just keep this weather but I'm thinking that is some serious wishful thinking. I also wanted to let you know that I am getting better from the shingles. I can honestly say that I would not wish shingles on my worst enemy. Such a horrible thing to come down with. It is starting to heal up but I still have burning pain in my arm which is worrisome. I just hope that goes way soon.

Photobucket

Well, I made this card this morning for the sketch challenge that they have this week over at the Some Odd Girl Challenge. I rediscovered some old paper that I thought would be perfect for this card. This a 6x6 paper pad called Love Letters by Little Yellow Bicycle Paper Co. Some of the pages are already die cut and there was one with the perfect bracket edge on it!  I teamed this paper up with this super sweet, Some Odd Girl, called Lover Letter Kaylee. I coloured her with my Copics and cut around her and pop-dotted her on the circle panel. The little open scallop border die was cut with my Die-namics and I used the First Place Award Ribbon Die-namics to cut the little flag for the Melissa Frances rub-on sentiment. I added a little black crushed velvet ribbon and a sprinkling of gems.

Photobucket

Here is the inside....another Melissa Frances rub-on.

Well, thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek at my SOG Challenge card!

Enjoy your long weekend, turkey, yummy pumpkin pie and I hope you have a little time to get crafty too!

Hugs,

My Favorite Things...WSC Challenge...Back 2 School Blues?!

Good Morning friends! I hope you had a great weekend and I hope you all enjoyed the fabulous Krafty Hop yesterday with the KKS Pin-Up Girls and Miles & friends!
Photobucket

So, Today I have a card to share with you that I made on the weekend for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club Challenge...Back 2 School Blues...is the challenge this week! But first I need to say what a fabulously exciting MFT week last week was for me! First, I was one of the "Favorite Finds" with my Expecting Love Baby Bump set card that I made for the BG Challenge and then I won a $15.00 MFT voucher for last week's MFT WSC...sketch challenge with this card...whoo hoo!!! Talk about a great week!!!

So, for my card I used this Making Memories 6x6 paper pad called Chloe's Closet and I used this cutie PI Girl called Book in hand. I paper pieced her skirt and I stamped 2 images on Nennah card and coloured her sweater hand and book on the one and then cut that out and pieced it as well. If I just pieced her skirt and coloured the rest of the image then it would've looked like her sweater was under her skirt. This just keeps all the dimensions right. I picked up this little tip from Michele Boyer...she is so talented and the bestest paper piecer ever!!! I cut the image out with my Nesties and inked with Old Paper Distress ink. Also, if you are paper piecing and plan on cutting your image out with a Nestie die, do that first and then glue the pieces on so that it doesn't get smooshed in your die cutting machine....I picked this up by trial and error, lol.

Photobucket

I love the look of stitching on cards but I haven't ventured into the sewing thing yet....but my Kelly Panacci Stitching stamps always give me great results and look pretty realistic too. I stamped them with Vintage Photo Distress ink. I used my new Notebook Edge Di-namics die and I use some of this scrumptious stripped twill ribbon that came in my VIP set too. I used these cute felt flowers that I had in my stash and a felt button and decided to put BG brads in the holes just for a change. The sentiment is a Melissa Frances rub-on and Making Memories glitter letter stickers.

Here is the inside...pretty simple the sentiment is from the My Umbrella PI set.

Well, Thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek at my WSC card!

Happy Stampin'!

I especially love how her stockings turned out...they look so sheer and silky! I used this great cheeky round label sticker by Making Memories that I had in my stash and have been saving for just the right card...I think it is perfect for Annette! I used some velvet and sheer ribbon and a Making Memories metal ribbon slider! Looks Like Annette has got some bling on her finger there too,he, he, he! I used my MFT open scallop border Di-namics die and I embellished with lots of Prima flowers and BG Wisteria brads. The sentiment is from the Kimmie's Everday Sentiment set, stamped on a cute little QuicKutz tag. I also added a little sparkle to Annette with my Sakura Stardust pen and I used my Glaze pen on her Pearls and lips!

Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge # 8....Music....A friend...!

Good morning Krafty galz! I have a quick post this morning to share a card that I made for the challenge over at Kenny K's Krafty Girlz Challenge blog. This week the challenge is MUSIC...love my tunes, love this challenge and I'm totally loving Kenny K digi stamps!!! The Glam Gang images are my fave and are so much fun to colour!

Well, for my card I just had to colour up this cutie, Rock Chick! Did you know that I was totally a Rocker/Heavy Metal chick in High School...OMGosh these images are bringing back memories, lol!
Well, back to the card...I used some MME papers and teamed it up with some AC cardstock and some Prima flowers with "metal" Making Memories flower brads in the centers. I had to add some ribbon and bling too...I just can't seem to make a card without it,smile! I coloured up Rock Chick with my Copics and cut her out with my Nesties and inked with Spun Sugar Distress ink. I left the image in the die and used it as a stencil! Oh and I found a really great little tip (I can't remember where I saw it...sorry...EDITED I found the link to the YouTube Video here) for cutting a small mat for your image. I use my Finger Grip craft Knife and cut going around the outside of the die! This is much better than how I was doing it before just tracing the outer edge and then cutting with the scissors.

Here is the inside....I thought this C.C. Designs sentiment was perfect for this card!
Well, Thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek at my card!
Have a Rockin' day!

New BasicGrey Challenge # 24...Gingham...2 cards to share!

It feels like forever since I've posted a card. I was camping with the family at Sandbanks Provincial Park and had a great time even though I got burnt, yikes! Then I came home for a day and then headed to Ottawa with friends for the AVLIC 2010 Conference. I had a great time at the conference but I am glad to be home now and see the kids and Chris. I missed them a lot! I'm glad to be home with all my stamps and stash too, he, he, he. I was having some serious withdrawal, lol!
We have another fun BasicGrey challenge for you today and it is simply to use some gingham on your card! I hope you can join us. Just remember to use at least one BasicGrey product to be eligible to win the random draw for the generous $25 Voucher donated by Simon Says Stamp.
So, I brought just the basic tools/supplies, a few embellies and some Copics to match this BG Kioshi paper with me! I coloured these 2 images and made the cards in my hotel room at night while I was watching TV. I'm quite happy with how the turned out considering I didn't have all my usual stuff, no Nesties, no distress inks etc.

My sweet friend and BG Challenges teamie, Tara W, from England sent me a bunch of images from the Roll Call kit and some of the beautiful flowers and goodies that I have used on these cards. Thanks so much, hun. I just loved colouring this sweetie called Summer from the Wild Sprouts collection and the flowers and ribbon all the goodies are just beautiful. For both cards, I used this pretty green gingham ribbon. When I was quickly throwing stuff in my bag to take with me I tossed in a few cork butterflies that I had on my desk and this cute Making Memories paper clip. Tara sent the ticket....I think it is a Tim Holtz ticket.

Well, thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek at my cards for the BG Challenge. I can't wait to see your gingham cards and make sure you pop over to the BG Challenges blog and see the beautiful creations by the BG DT.

The Shabby Shoppe & Pure Innocence Hybrid cards...You're the Best Teacher set!

Hope you are enjoying the weekend! I have been so lazy this weekend, it isn't even funny. I've done nothing around the house but I was able to make up some cards for the kid's teachers since it is almost the end of the school year and I don't want to be scrambling at the last minute!
We have been blessed with really great teachers this year and if your child has ever had, a not so great teacher, then you know what a blessing it is, to have a great one. I wanted to make some cute cards to say thanks! I decided to the make "hybrid" cards...I used a digi paper kit called Summer Cottage from the Shabby Shoppe that I absolutely love and the tags are from the Summer Cottage Teacher's Pet gift set. I also used Digi Pure Innocence images from Heather Ellis Etsy shop.

This card is for Hannah's teacher, Mr.Ryan. She also had him in grade 2 and we just love him to bits! He is such a wonderful teacher and really brings out the best in Hannah. I really struggled on how girlie to make this card and if I should use the PI girl or boy but this little girl is suppose to be Hannah so I went with her! I printed the digi papers and used the brown pattern, again, to lessen the girlie factor, then used some brown cotton trim brads and a button with twine....no flowers.

Here is the inside.

This card is for Kieran's classroom teacher, Mrs. Poechman and I made the other one for his Resource teacher Mrs. Brownson. I got my Prima flower fix on these two cards, lol and I used this cute little Boy with Dog image and coloured all the images with my Copics and used Melissa Frances rub-ons, MM letter stickers, MM buttons with Scrappers Floss and some Kaisercraft pearls.

Well, thanks for stopping by and havin' a wee peek! Maybe I should really muster up some energy and tidy up around her or something....yuck,he,he,he!

Just Magnolia #59...Mina's Sketch....Thank You!

Just a quickie post this morning to share the card I made with Mina's beautiful sketch over at Just Magnolia Challenge this week! I made an easel card and used MME Totally Girl papers. I thought I would use this sweet Tilda from the Easter collection. I love her to bits as she is so pretty. Thought I could get extra use out of her by covering the eggs in her lap with flower soft. I tried making my own paper flower with my flower punch that I see all the ladies, out there in blogland, using but I am not that happy with it...need to brush up on my paper flower making.
Sentiments are C.C. Designs buttons are Making Memories and I used Bundled Sage Distress ink for the inking.
Thanks so much for stopping by and having a peek!
Have a stampin' great day!

New BasicGrey Challenges # 18 and Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps # 25...Ruff Day?

Good Morning Krafty friends! I have to say that I am sooo sad this morning that I'm not with the Krafty Girls, Kimmie, Andrea and Melanie, attending ScrapFest! I was hopping to go but in the end I had to make the really tough decision to stay home...pooh! There is always next year! I know the girls are having a blast though and I can't wait to hear all about it and maybe see all the krafty goodies they get!

Well, I have combined my DT challenges into one card again this week...the challenges went so nicely together, I couldn't resist! Over at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge blog Krafty Girl Melanie would like us to make one "For the Boys" and at BasicGrey Challenges we have this great colour combo........

For my card I made the 6x6 base from American Crafts cardstock and used the yellow paper is from June Bug and the Blue sheet is from Lime Ricky. I stamped this adorable Kraftin' Kimmie stamp called Gone Fishin' with Huck and Lady from the Crissy's Cuties Collection on Neenah card and coloured it with my Copics. I love this image so much! Lady reminds me of my dogs O'Sheen and Missy. They both have passed away now but I still think of them every time I see this image of Lady and have such fond memories. O'Sheen was an English Cocker Spaniel and Missy was half spaniel and half Irish Setter. Missy had such a lovely temperament and she was so pretty and looked like a miniature Irish setter....such a beauty she was! So, back to the card....I cut the image with my Nesties and sponged the sky with Smokey Sky Distress ink. I used a Making Memories Grommet and some white twill tape, twine and a QK tag for the Kimmie's Fun sentiment. The Rain Dots added to the water/beach theme.

Here is the inside of my card...I used another Kraftin' Kimmie Sentiment from the Kimmie's Coffee Sentiment set.

Thanks so much for popping by and a taking a look at my card! I hope you get some time to join the challenges that we have for you this week! The BG DT and the Krafty Girls have stunning creations to share and inspire...so go have a peek!

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge # 22...Here and eyelyet, there an eyelet...You're such a Doll!!!

Hey Krafty friends!!! I am back with another post this morning! This is my Kraftin' Kimmie Challenges card! This week the super krafty and super duper sweet Michele has set the challenge...An eyelet here, an eyelet there...he he he! Well, I asked the "regulatory board" (aka the Krafty Girls) and we will accept snaps for this challenge as they fall under the eyelet category in the crafting code book, lol! I just made that up there isn't really a crafting code book...it just sounded so official and all, he, he, he!!!
From the KKS Blog....One more important note! **This challenge will be open until April 2nd! We've been so busy with all the new stamps (I know, poor us!) that we're taking a Saturday off from the challenge, so this one will be open for TWO whole weeks! **
So I hope you can join us this week and remember if you use a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp on your creation and link your post on the KKS Challenge blog then you will be entered into the random draw for the prize, which is the adorable, Lola Da Vinci, that is featured on Michele's adorable card!

So, I saw this tutorial to make a tent card on the JM Challenges blog that Dena created and it was a lot of fun and quite easy and quick to make! I love how it turned out and my hubby Chris really liked this card too which was nice of him to say...I did make a few errors as it was my first time making one but now I know what not to do, next time, smile! I sent sweet Charlotte here all the way to England to wish my BG DT member and sweet friend Tara W a very happy 40 th birthday!!!
I used American crafts cardstock, Crate paper called Paper Dolls, American Crafts ribbon, Prima flowers and a flower eyelet, a regular eyelet and some jumper rings to suspend Charlotte and then I used snaps in the centres of my Prima flowers. I just had to use sweet Charlotte with the Paper Dolls paper and I used one of the coordinating stickers and I even added a snap to the flower on the sticker! Charlotte is coloured with my Copics and then I cut her out leaving a white border around her. I used a lot of Sakura Startdust pen on Charlotte and spread it around with my finger...she is very sparkly IRL!

I put the "inside" sentiment on the back of the card and I used one of the great sentiments from the Kimmie's Everyday Sentiments set and I coloured and cut out the dolly accessory stamp that comes with Charlotte and pop-dotted her....oh and a few more snaps!
Well, thanks for popping by again today and I really hope you can join the challenge this week!
The Krafty Girls have really outdone themselves again! They have used the eyelets in their stash in such creative ways...I am sure you will be inspired to pull out the eyelets at the bottom of you stash and use them on a card!
Have a stampin' great day!

I'm back, as promised, with another preview card from the March release of Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps! Remember that, this Sunday, March 14th, there will be two new Cindy and Mindy designs by Jean Grant, four new exquisite fairy images by Crissy Armstrong and four new incredible images by Annie Rodrigue....PLUS Kimmie has made another one of Annie's original illustration into a stamp...it is the Angry Ballerina that I shared with you yesterday!!! Thanks for all the sweet comments you left for me. I really do appreciate them and I promise I will get a round to visit soon!
So, today I have a card featuring Monique...isn't she fabulous! I love her top hat with the wings on it...I think she is very cool...the wings just make her a little rock n roll....don't ya think?! I attempted to colour this image in the fabulous style of my BG DT member, the uber-talented, Chris Dark, and I am afraid I didn't come close to achieving her stunning colouring style but I tried, smile! I stamped Monique on Neenah card and coloured her with my Copics and cut out the image with my Nesties. I left the image in the die and used it as a stencil and inked the background with Spun Sugar Distress inks! I made the card 6x6 from American Crafts cardstock and used Making Memories 6x6 paper pad and embellished with a Making Memories gem Fleur De Lis and black velvet ribbon! This sentiment actually comes with Vivienne, one of the other fabulous images by Annie Rodrigue from the March Release!

This is the inside....this sentiment is from the Kimmie's Everyday Sentiments set!

Whiff of Joy # 69...A Sketch by Jane...Joy!

Good morning! It's Wednesday and that means it's Whiff of Joy Challenges day! We really enjoyed seeing all your beautiful creations with the the fabulous coffee and cream colour combo! This week Jane has designed a beautiful sketch for us to follow! Remember you have to use a Whiff of Joy stamped image on your card to be eligible for the prize! We have also started a new feature to the Whiff of Joy challenge. We will be selecting the top 3 cards and the top 3 picks will get our fab Top 3 blinkie designed by the oh so talented and sweet, Martine!
So, now on to my card....I tried something new with this card and I rather like how it turned out! I was originally going to stamp this sweet image from the Whiff of Joy Kit, Birdie love, on Neenah paper, colour it with my Copics and cut it out but then I wondered how it would look if I stamped the image in Rich Cocoa Memento ink directly on the tag and forgo the colouring process.
I had this chip board tag in my stash so I covered it with pp, sanded the edges and inked with Distress inks! I also wanted to used this Prima flower as it has a sheet music pattern on it and I thought that went nicely with this little song bird, Willow has perched on her hand. The flower came in a two pack and the pic below shows the packaging. I really liked the laser cut pattern on the packaging and I wondered how I could incorporate it into my card. Then I decided to use it as a stencil and sponged with Victorian Velvet Distress ink on the cornor the tag.
I also cut the Quickutz nameplate from the craft cardstock packaging and stamped the sentiment from the Winter 2009 kit. I used some of my favourite American Crafts ribbon, MME and MM brads.
Here is the inside...this sentiment is from the Birdie Love kit as well!
Well, thanks for stopping by and having a wee peek at my Whiff of Joy Challenges card! I hope you can join us this week as Jane's sketch is just lovely to work with and the WOJ DT has made such gorgeous cards to inspire you. I know you won't want to miss this week's challenge!
Have a stampin' great day!

Just Magnolia # 43...a Sketch by JayJay...Sweet Little Angel!

I'm back with another post this morning! I am so glad to finally get to ink up this sweet Tilda from the Winter stamp club set....it feels like forever since I had the chance to play with my beloved Magnolia stamps! Well, my very good friend and co-worker asked me if I could make her a birthday card for a one year old girl! Of course, I said yes, smile! I knew the perfect stamp too! So, I made this card last night using the great sketch over at the Just Magnolia Challenge designed by JayJay and I am so happy with how it turned out!!! This a fabulous sketch....I just LOVE it and I love this sweet Tilda even more now that I've actually coloured her!!!
I stamped Tilda on Neenah card and made a mask and stamped the Magnolia Butterfly grass. I coloured the image with my Copics and cut it out with my rectangle Nesties. I left the image in the die and inked in the background with one of my new Tim Hotlz Distress inks, Smokey sky and my all time fave Antique Linen.

I pulled out this 6x6 MM paper pad called Chloe's Closet that I had in my stash as I thought it was sweet and girlie but not too girlie! I made a 6x6 easel card from American Crafts cardstock and matted in blue Bazzill cardstock. I used the Chloe's Closet co-ordinating flowers and buttons. I wanted to put the age somewhere on this card and I had these die cuts from Daisy D's paper out on my desk as I had used the paper earlier this week so I used this die and I took a small circle stamp and stamped it around the number #1. I also stamped some zig zag stitching with Brushed Corduroy Distress inks and my Kelly Panacci Acrylic Stitch stamps. The sentiments are my fave Melissa Frances rub-ons.

Well, thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek! Oh, if you scroll down you can see my WoJ Challenges DT card for today we have a lovely sketch by Bev...so go have a peek at that too!

I hope you have a stampin' great day!
Hugs,
