MFT: Happy Mother's Day!

So, I made my Mom a Mother's Day card with my new MFT Happy Mother's Day stamp set. I am glad I was able to make this card because I don't think I will get any stamping done this weekend, frown! We have a lot of packing and organizing to do for our trip to "Mickey land",BIG SMILE!!!! (that is what we affectionately call Disney World around here..Hannah started calling it that when she was wee and it stuck!) I used last week's Papertake Chellenge sketch by Katharina. Unfortunately, I didn't make the deadline to enter the challenge, that's ok, it was such a great sketch that I had to use it anyway! I am very happy with how this card turned out and I think my Mom is going to really like it too! I just might have to make a few more for some special friends who are great Moms!!!

So, for this card I wanted to use pp with my mom's favourite colours in it and the BG Sugared 6X6 paper pad was perfect!!! I coloured the stamped image in with my Copic markers and added some Ranger's Liquid Pearls and Sakura stardust pen to the flowers and the leaves. The square scalloped mat was cut on my Silhouette from a GSD file I downloaded for Kreation's by Katie. She has some great GSD files. So, if you own a Silhouette or another digital cutter, I suggest checking out her site! I also downloaded some of her mesh GSD files and can't wait to use them on a card! I ran the Burgundy Bazzill cardstock through my Cuttlebug with the "Thank You" embossing folder and inked it a touch. The sentiment is from the MFT Happy Mother's Day set too and I finished the card off with some American Craft ribbon and few Prima flowers.

Thanks for stopping by!

Kimmie's Challenge!! Celebrate in Style!

Well, I did it! I was able to make a card in time to enter Kimmie's Challenge! (please, excuse the crooked photo). I had to change the design a wee bit...I hope that is okay?! I didn't have any stamps that really lended themselves to a more rectangular card and I don't have any envelopes for that size either. So here is my interpretation of Kimmie's card challege!

Oh, Oh, Oh,...I finally go to make a card using my Pink Petticoat, Lola Rose, "digital stamps". When I first downloaded these "stamps" I was a little disappointed, as, I didn't really think it through. Most of my colouring techniques were water-based i.e. SU markers, water-colouring with distress inks, and they made the ink from my ink jet printer bleed, obviously. Stickles would make the ink run and even, Prisma Coloured Pencils with OMS made the ink run, if I recall correctly. I even bought a can of Workable fixitf spray but the strong odour was not conducive to me as a migraineur and it didn't seem to work very well either! So, I kinda gave up on the idea of using the Pink Petticoat designs that I had already bought, pooh! Then I saw a card from the cute card challenge made by Tillymint's using one of the new Pink Petticoat digital stamps. It was so darn cute that I went and visited the Pink Petticoat blog again, and to my delight, discovered that I can colour them in with my Copic markers and the ink jet ink won't bleed, Woohoo!!!!! Problem solved!!!!

For this card I used Bazzill Basic Pink bling for the card base and I wanted to do something that would give the same effect that Kimmie did on her card, when she stamped the crackle background stamp. Since, I don't have a large background stamp, I used a My Mind's Eye white distressed rub-on sheet and applied it to the areas that would show, then attached the stripped PP. I coloured, Lola Rose with cupcake, with my Copic markers and used my Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll pens to add a little sparkle, here and there. I adhered the image to a piece of blue Prism Cardstock and added four pink brads in the corners. I tied two pieces of the American Craft ribbon into a knot and just adhered with glue dotts in the upper left corner. I had to move the location of my sentiment, from my MFT Let's Go for a Walk set. I didn't think I would get a good impression over the distressed rub-on. So, there you have it!!!!

I was just over at Kimmie's blog and saw the absolutely adorable card she made with the stamped image, Tilda in a Summer Swirl, that I sent her, WOW!!! She is one super talented lady!!!! She followed the sketch from the Papertake Challenge...what a great sketch!!! I am off to make a card now using that sketch with my new Happy Mother's Day stamp set from MFT. I really need to make a card for my Mom, so, I can give it to her before we leave for Disney World!

Oh, one last thing that I want to share with everyone!!! I found this info when I was blurffing about a very inexpensive way to clean your stamps that you can pick up at Wal-mart! I thought it was worth a try and I have been using it for a week or two now. It does work very well, although, it is a little unconventional and if you decide to try it you do so at your own risk!!!! So, check it out here, if you are interested. If you are anything like me, you will hate spending your pennies on those tiny bottles of stamp cleaner (you would think I was drinking the stuff or something) and would much rather spend those hard earned pennies on new rubba or photo-polymer, lol!

Thanks for stopping by!

Girly but Blue! Tilda & Co. Challenge

Here is my card for the Tilda & Co. Challenge...Girly but Blue! This challenge was a great opportunity to use up some paper that I have been hording, lol. I love Kelly Panacci paper and I have had this paper hanging around for a while and all the co-ordinating stickers, of course. I thought I would challenge myself to use it on this girly but blue challenge card. I am really diggin' these challenges. I really want to make a card for Kimmie's challenge but we have some shopping to do today (a trip to Costco)...I hope I get a chance to make the card in time....we will see! And the clock is counting down on our trip to Disney World....I am getting so excited to see Snow White again, smile! I hope to get a new pic, for my blog, of me with my favourtie princess!!!!

Now, back to the card....I stamped both Magnolia stamps on Wausau bright white cardstock with Archival Brilliance Graphite Black ink and coloured them in with my copic markers. I added stardust pen to the wings and cut them out....love my new Fiskars fingertip craft knife. It really makes getting into those tight areas easier. The Kelly Panacci pp used, is Wide Stripes- Blue, Friendship Words, Blue and Denim Daisies. Tag, "Best Buds" ribbon slider and flower border sticker are all from the co-ordinating sticker sheet and I used a few 3-d sticker flowers too. I Thought the card could use a little black to anchor it. So, I added the DCWV rub-on stitching here and there. For the inside sentiment I used another sticker...it reads "friendship isn't a big thing....it is a million little things."

So, there you have it! Now, I have to run and get ready....Costco is calling....Thanks for stopping by!

My Incredible Guy! Cute Card Challenge!

WOW!! I am really getting into the blog challenge thing, smile! I decided to make a card for the Cute Card Thursday challenge while I was at it! I know, I should be cleaning my house but this is sooooooo much more fun! This weeks challenge is to make a "masculine" card. I only have two Edwin stamps, Edwin with broom and Mysiga Edwin VA07. So, I picked the Mysiga Edwin and decided to make a card for my Husband, Chris. He is an all around great guy, a dedicated, loving father and a wonderfully devoted and helpful husband. When I talk to my girlfriends, I realize even more, how lucky I am. Chris is very involved with the kids; taking them to activities, helping them with homework, making lunches etc. etc. and he does housework, laundry, shopping and most, if not all of the, cooking. He does a lot of great things for me and our family. And to top it all off, he is very supportive of my scrapbooking/cardmaking addiction! I don't thank him enough for all that he does...So, I hope this card will let him know that he is my Super Hero!!!!
I used Brown Bazzill cardstock for the base and BG Recess PP and a scrap of Scenic Route PP. I inked the edges and used my Technique Tuesday Hanging by a Thread and Frayed Ends stamps for the stitching. The Sentiment is Melissa Frances rub-ons (my favourite!!!) I also, used a Magnolia label stamp and stamped a Magnolia tag with hearts on the pp and cut out the hearts.

A Pocket Full of Sunshine!

I made two cards today for Ila's Sketch Challenge. This is my first time participating in a blog challenge! Those adorable High Hopes stamps that Ila is offering up for blog candy sure got me motivated to join in, smile!!! I really enjoyed following this sketch and I look forward to participating in more of Ila's challenges...great fun!

I stamped Tilda with Apron on Wausau Bright White Cardstock with Archival Brilliance Graphite Black ink and coloured her in with Copic markers. Card base is Bazzill Blue CS from the Rainbow multi-pack and I used BG 6x6 PP Cupcake. I cut the same Bazzill Blue CS into a pocket and matted it on a piece of Peach CS from the Monocromatics Orange multi-pack. I used Technique Tuesday Hanging by a Thread stamps with Close to my Heart Daisey White ink to stamp the stitching. I embellished with MM button brads, Prima flowers, Ric Rac and stardust pen. I just love the new Natasha Benningfield song "Pocketful of Sunshine"!!!! The first time I heard it I knew it would be the perfect sentiment for a happy card to brighten a special someone's day! I printed the sentiment on the computer with Wendy Medium font.

For this card I followed Kimmie's version of Ila's sketch. Again, I stamped Tilda with Apron with Archival Brilliance Graphite Black ink on Wausau Bright White Cardstock and coloured her with my Copics. I used Bazzill Blue CS for the base and BG PP Cupcake and I punched piece of pink from Sugared with my 2" square punch and matted it on the Bazzill Blue CS.

This was a ton of fun...I hope you have a great day and enjoy the sunshine!!! Thanks for stopping by!

Penguin Paradise!

Aloha! Aren't these Imaginisce penguin stamps just adorable! I knew I "needed" to have this paper and the cute little hula penguin stamps when I watched a video posted on-line from CHA winter of all the new Imaginisce product.

Well, I went to a crop last night at Scrapbooks by Design with some girlfriends....Lots of fun but not a lot accomplished as per usual...we spend more time chatting than scrapping, lol! When I saw these cuties there I had to snatch them up...YAY, for penguins in paradise! I also got the large circle and large petite scalloped circle set of Nestibilites. I was so excited to see that they had them in stock I was gitty with delight. I think the other reason why I really love these little Penguins in Paradise is because Chris and I have been talking about taking a Hawaiian cruise (sans kids, of course)...well, we are still in the talking/planning stage....but it is rather exciting!

This card was made with the Imaginisce A shore thing PP and the adorable little penguin stamps. I coloured her in with my Copic markers and used my new Nestibilites to cut her out. The large scallopped mat behind is a QK limited addition revolution flower die. I punched several flowers out of the PP and pop-dotted them. The Sentiment is from MFT How Sweet it is set. It is stamped on a chipboard tag from the dollar store. For the inside sentiment I used MFT Essential Sentiments stamp that reads...."Cool...you made my day! Thanks". Also, added some American Craft ribbon and one little popsicle rub-on from the co-ordinating rub-on sheet, just so she could have a cool treat too.

For this card I started with a piece of blue bling for the base. Again, I used the co-ordinating Imaginisce line..."A shore Thing" and the penguin stamps. I coloured this little guy in with my Copics and cut out the circle with my new Nestibilities. I mounted it on green bling cut with the petite scallop Nestibilites die. I used my MM ribbon notch tool and laced in some American Craft ribbon. I cut a tab out on my Silhouette and stamped the MFT sentiment stamp from the Tongue in Cheek sentiments set. I accented the card with a stardust pen. The inside sentiment says "Thanks...I had a ball!" which I printed on my computer in Wendy Medium.

Well, I gotta go...we are having dinner soon and then going swimming at the recreation centre!

Thanks for stopping by!

Say what you need to say!

Well, I have been musing about this layout for a few weeks now and it has finally evolved into this....ya like? I absolutely love the song "Say" by John Mayer. The lyrics have such a great message for my daughter, for myself, for all of us, really. I want Hannah to be able to "say what she needs to say"...to say it with out "fear"...to know "that it is better to say too much, than to never say, what you need to say"! I want her to learn this lesson now, as, it is a hard lesson to learn...something I still struggle with everyday. Countless times I have walked away not saying what I needed to say. Left with hurt and regret because of my fear to say what I feel or my fear of what people will think or fear of reprisals. But then I am left wishing I had said this or that...."but we would be better off instead if we could only say what we need to say...with a heart wide open". Well, I really enjoyed the process of making this layout...I felt all creative and artsy, lol...I used new Sweet Spring Fancy Pants paper and the new Fancy Pants stamp set Little Star (love it) and In My Words, the title and lyrics are printed in the 2 peas font Beautiful Mess. I pulled out my chalks and used a paper stomp to high light various words in the lyrics and to add a titch of colour in around the stamped images. I used Tim Holt's distress inks for the stamping. I also, used a few snippets from my Melissa Frances rub-ons...i love hackin' them all up and recreating my own phrases, smile. The little tag is from the dollar store...i painted it, sanded it, inked it, and sanded it again, phew! Then I printed out "say what you need to say" in mirror image on the glossy side of a transparency and pressed it onto the tag while the ink was still wet; transferring the phrase...home made rub-ons! It is subtle (code for hard to see) but i like it.

Here is a card I made earlier this week for a friend. She is expecting her second child very soon and is feelin' uncomfortable...like she might just explode, smile....been there, done that! So, I made this little card to cheer her on...you're in the home stretch, now! I used BG paper and a new Magnolia stamp and QK clear acrylic stamps and die set. Sentiment is from the Serenity Now MFT stamps.
