Just Magnolia #56...The Princess has Spoken!

Hey crafty friends! Hot enough for ya!? We are having a heat wave here in Ontario, that is for sure! It was 31 degrees C today, record breaking temps for this time of year! Looks like we are in for a hot summer! But hold on, it's still technically, spring...well, that's just fine with me!!!
Well, tonight I wanted to share this easel desktop calendar I made for ME, ME, ME...yes, little ol' ME, he, he, he, and I'm going to put it on my desk at work! I made it with the fabulous sketch that the uber-talented, Jane, designed for Just Magnolia challenge this week!

Now why has it taken me sooooo long to ink up sweet Tilda with Apple!? Did you notice she has a striking resemblance to my favourite Princess, Snow White!? Well, I just had to colour her up just like Snow White!!! I used my Copics and I added some glaze pen to her shoes and the apple. She is just toooooo cute for words...love her to bits!!! I used this yummy Cosmo Cricket paper from stash...oh, I just love this paper! My dear sweet friend and BG DT member Tara W sent me a couple of these fab mini calendars and the perfect little apple charm is from my other dear sweet friend and BG DT boss, smile, Martine!

And I have been saving this great Melissa Frances rub-on too...yes, I think I can totally be a "princess" now and then...so how fitting is this sentiment...I know my hubby, Chris and my Mom would say this suits me to a T, smile! I'm loving my new MS butterfly punch...getting lots of use and of course I used some American Crafts ribbon and Prima flowers and Dollar store roses.
Thanks for stopping by and having a wee peek!!!

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge # 16...Be A Little Ripper....You're So Special!

Thanks for stopping by again! It is Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge day and I have another card to share with you! This week Krafty Girl, Nana Diana, is hosting the challenge and she is asking us to "Be a Little Ripper"...ripping and tearing....what a great idea!
I love how tearing looks on a card but rarely think to do it myself! Well, I guess I do pull out my Tim Holtz Distress tool from time to time and do a little ripping around the edges, smile!

Diana has also made a fab card with Emilia from the SteamPunk collection by Annie! If you join the challenge this week and rip and tear up you creation and include a KKS image then you will be entered into the random draw to win an Emilia stamp!

So, for my card I used this sweet image by Crissy Armstrong called Shy EmmyLou! I just adore her and I had so much fun colouring her with my Copics. I also used this yummy K&Co. valentines paper called KaZoo and American Crafts cardstock! I sure am getting a lot of use out of this 12X12 KaZoo pad....love it! Again, I used a Shabby Shoppe Round Label Digi embellishment, American Crafts ribbon, Prima flowers and some roses and gems from Dollarama.

Here is the inside...this sentiment is from the Kimmie's Holiday Sentiments set!

Thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek! I hope you go check out the wonderful creations by the Krafty Girls and I hope you can play along!

I stamped Tilda on the Magnolia Holly Letter on ATS Copic Quality paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured the image with my Copic Markers. Sketch Saturday # 71...Ooh La la...it's Kiki La Rue!

Hey! It's me again! WOWZERS!!! Two posts in one day...that never happens for me! Just wanted to share this card I made this morning for one of my bestest girlfriends who has a B-day coming up real soon! I don't know about you, but I think the best B-day gift one could get, is just kickin' back and relaxing, with a cuppa and not a care in the world....oh and maybe a trip to the spa for a massage, smile!

So, I decided to use the, oh so sweet, Kiki La Rue...OMGosh, I love her name and she is just a cutie patootie! She is a C.C. Designs stamp that I bought at Scrappin' Great Deals when I went to Sheila's fabulous store for the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps launch party!

I followed the great sketch that is over at Sketch Saturday this week...I just flipped to fit with my image!!!

I was drawn to these yum-o papers in the Indian Summer 6x6 paper pad and used Bazzill Basics Cardstock from my stash! I am so thrilled that I can use some the Bazzill cardstock that is in my Monochromatic sets that I don't normally use as they go so nicely with Indian Summer! I stamped Kiki on ATS Copic Quality paper and coloured her with my Copics and shimmerized her. I also took my blue Sakura Stardust pen and just gave her a little sparkle in her eye! I cut her out with my rectangle Nesties and pop-dotted the image!

Here you can see her sparkle and shimmer with Angle Wings Shimmerz...I shimmerized the Caboodle Prima Flowers that I also bought at Scrappin' Great Deals....love 'em! Ribbon is American Crafts and a bit of bling to finish it off! The sentiment is from a MFT set!

here is the inside "kick back and relax" is a MFT sentiment and Happy Birthday is from the Kimmie's Everyday Sentiments set!
Hubby has the turkey in the oven and the aroma is starting to waft through the house and it smells yum-o!!!! Can't wait to dig in, smile!
Well, thanks for stopping by and having a wee peek!

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps meets BasicGrey Challenges #5...Furever Friends!

Good morning "Krafty" friends! I have another Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps sneak peek for you this morning and I combined it with the great sketch by Martine that we have over on the BasicGrey Challenge blog! I hope you can join the challenge this week or maybe next! All you have to remember is to use one BasicGrey product on your creation! Oh and make sure you check out the BasicGrey DT creations cuz they just ROCK!!!!

So, do you wanna know more about these cutie patooties...well, okay, let me introduce you to Roxy and Bernice! O.K. I have to say Kimmie has done a wonderful job naming all the characters...WOW, the names Roxy and Bernice just suit them to a T!!!!! Don't they!?

Now I have a wee confession to make....I'm not that good at colouring critters and because of that I have avoided cute animal stamps for fear of detracting from their cuteness with my bad colouring, lol!!! But I have taken the plunge! I hope I have done Crissy's gorgeous image of Roxy and Bernice justice!

So, I stamped Roxy and Bernice on ATS Copic paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured them with my Copics and cut the image out with my new Nesties...Labels 7!!

For the card I made a 6x6 cardbase from pink Bazzill Bling cardstock and used my new fabulously Delicious BasicGrey Eskimo Kisses and one of the solid turquoise sheets from BG Lemonade! I also used some Eskimo Kisses brads too! I got my little paws on the Eskimo Kisses range when I visited Kimmie, Andrea and Sheila at Scrapin' Great Deals! I also bought this yum-O, cotton lace. I just love it and it was perfect for this card! I used a lot of pop-dots to give the layers some added dimension and I added a few Primas! The photo turns are a QK 2x2 die. Then to finish it off I added some Angel Wings Shimmerz to the flowers and to Roxy and Bernice!

Now isn't that the best sentiment! I embossed it with American Crafts Zing White embossing powder....such great stuff! I really love the look of a crisp white sentiment!
Well, thanks for stopping by and having a wee sneak peek at Roxy and Bernice and I hope you can join the challenge over at BasicGrey Challenges Blog!

Just Magnolia # 21 and Cute Card Thursday # 76....Tilda rides her bike to school!

Here is my card that I made for the Just Magnolia challenge with Mina's fabulous sketch and for the Cute Card Thursday challenge....Back to School!!

I had to ink up this sweet Tilda with her bicycle that I ordered from Simon Says Stamp...a really great on-line shop! The services is really fabulous and they shipped it so quickly too! Well, I stamped her on Neenah paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her in with my Copic markers. Since Tilda is heading to school she needed to bring her books and an apple for her teacher. I stamped the books and apple from the Magnolia desk stamp, coloured it in and cut it out. I cut a slit in the image where the basket is and tucked the books and the apple in the basket.

I cut a 6x6 carbase from light blue Bazzill Bling cardstock and used patterned paper by Flair Designs from the Fresh and Fabulous collection...I really love this paper...such pretty colours!
I printed, cut and inked the edges of one of the round labels from the Shabby Shop..this one is from the Child's Words collection! To finish it off I added some ribbon from Micheals, some Primas and a Melissa Frances rub-on....I have to tell you I had originally cut a rub-on that said I heart recess...well I lost it in my scrapbooking room...it's gotta be in there somewhere but I looked high and low for it...well I finally had to pick a different sentiment, smile.

Here is a close up of the books and apple tucked into the bike basket!
Well, there you have it...another card...this one was a lot of fun to make, well, except for loosing my rub-on...I'll probably find it stuck to my butt or something like that, SNORT!
Well, thanks for stopping by and having a wee peek!
Hugs,

New BasicGrey Challenge # 3, an inspirational photo....Thank you!!!!

Well, crafty friends can you believe it's Saturday already!? I'm sooooo in need of some R&R and will try to get some over the course of this long weekend (here in Canada) as Monday is Labour Day! I have had a crazy week and a very frustrating week, let me tell ya! My computer went wonky on Monday night!!! I came home from work, turned it on and got the black screen of death that said some major windows file was corrupted or missing....aaakkkk!!!!! It has been quite the ordeal getting it all sorted out but I believe things are back to normal for the most part now! Just a friendly word of advice....go back up your files, my friend! Luckily, I have a great little backup device called a Clickfree and it has been a real life saver!

Well on to happy news....we have another great challenge for you at BasicGrey Challenges so I hope you can join in, at some point...over the next two weeks! Martine has picked this great photo for you to use as inspiration for you creation(s)! You can draw you inspiration from the colours, patterns or any element in the photo! Remember to use at least one BasicGrey product on your creation, and you good to go! Oh and make sure you check out the stunning creations of the BG DT....they are sure to inspire!

I just love the colours and design of this room...very comfy and homey feeling!

So for my card I used white Bazzill Swiss Dots cardstock and made a 6x6 card base. I had to restrain myself from inking all the edges of my paper with Chestnut Roan ink, lol! I wanted to go for the fresh crisp design of this room in the photo.

I used Basicgrey Urban Prairie (the green pattern) and Lemonade (yellow solid) papers! I stamped Tilda on Neenah paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her in with my Copics. I cut her out with my Oval Nesties using the "Out of the box technique"! I cut the Scalloped Nestie in White Bazzill Swiss Dots.

I added some white tulle as I wanted to capture the soft, sheerness of the curtains in the photo and I added the green cotton lace to capture the comfy feeling of this room. To finish it off I added a few Prima flowers and some Angel Wings Shimmerz to them! The sentiment is a QK rub-on and the tag and photo corner are QK dies.

Well, there you have it another BG Challenge! I am really looking forward to seeing what you all come up with!

Thanks for stopping by and for all the awesome comments and awards that I have received...it may take me a bit to get to your blog or to post your award as the computer problems has set me back a bit...but I will do as soon as I can, smile!

Have a great weekend and or long weekend to all my crafty Canadian friends!

WOJ # 44....Sweet baby girl and some pics from our camping trip!!!!

Just a quick post tonight to show you this baby card I made for a friend who ordered two cards from me! I still need to make the second one for a boy...that's on my "to do list" for tomorrow night, smile! I used Rach's fabulous sketch over at the WOJ challenge blog but I didn't make it in time to enter the challenge! I love this sketch and will definitely use it again!

The papers are BG Lemonade, Bazzill Bling cardstock and the light yellow is Bazzill Basics cardstock.
I stamped Willow on Prism Simply Smooth cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and coloured her and baby in with my Copics and added some Angel Wings shimmerz. the sentiments are Melissa Frances rub-ons. I added a few Prima flowers and some ribbon to finish it off!

We went camping at Port Burwell Provincial Park on the weekend. The weather wasn't too bad. We rode our bike into the small town and had ice cream and one day. We drove to Aylmer to get some groceries and it was very interesting to see the Mennonite and Amish that live in this area. We saw one Amish man at the grocery store in his horse and buggy.

I just love these windmills....

and I thought this was funny that we drove through....

and
I thought maybe some of my international blog followers would get a good kick out of this, smile!!!
Well, thanks for stopping by and having a wee peek!

Just Magnolia # 16, Friday Sketchers # 63 & Colour Create # 24....Splish Splash Birthday!!!!!

Hello crafty friends!!! Hope everyone is well and enjoying the summer! It seems like everyone is having a rainy summer though...that's not much fun! Well, When I got back from our last soggy camping trip I came down with a sore throat and I've basically lost my voice...good thing I know sign language, lol! Well, it doesn't really come in handy at home as Chris and the kids just stare at me, clueless as to what I am trying to say!!! Well, it just becomes a crazy game of charades, smile!!! I hope I start to feel better soon as we are off on another camping trip next week!
With all the busyness of our trip to Dsiney and camping I misplaced my mojo somwhere,lol...but I think I found it this morning, phew! I got up at the crack of dawn to make this Birthday card for Hannah's good friend Emily!!! The two have been Friends since they were 3 years old! Well, Hannah is going to Emily's party tomorrow, so I thought I would make her a special card since she's turning 10...double digits...whoot, whoot!!!! Now, Emily is my friend Charlene's daughter and Charlene owns The Scrapbook Academy in Oshawa...a great little scrapbooking store by the way, so if you are ever in the area check it out!!!!

Now I made this card following along with 3 Challenges...Just Magnolia # 16 Distressing, Friday Sketchers # 63...what a great sketch by the fabulously talented, Jeannette...love this sketch and will definitely use it again and Colour Create Challenge # 24...pink, orange and green!

I stamped Tilda on Prism Simply Smooth White cardstock, made a mask on a post-it-note and stamped her floatie, lining it up with my Stamp-a-ma-jig and cut her out with my circle Nesties using the "out of the box" technique and coloured the image with my beloved Copic Markers!

I made the card with Bazzill Bling cardstock and used this fun paper that I picked up yesterday by Flair Designs, Fresh & Fabulous Collection! I loved the colours and it has a bit of Distressed feel to it but its still bright, fun and cheery. So, I thought it would be perfect for this card! I roughed up the edges of the pp with my Tim Holtz Distress tool and inked the edges with chalk inks!

Then a few Primas, some American crafts ribbon, my fave Melissa Frances rub-ons and some green Could 9 Rain Dots to finish it all off!

Here is the inside I basically followed the same design and used more
Melissa Frances rub-ons...love 'em!!!!!

oh and another image of this sweet Tilda....I just adore her!!!
So, I can check this off my "to do" list, smile! Now I have to run out to the shopping centre with Hannah to pick out a gift for Emily and we have packing and a ton of other things to do before we head out camping again next week!
Well, Thanks for stopping by and having a wee peek...hope my fellow crafty Canadians have a great long weekend and I hope you have some sunshine where ever you are!!!

Just Magnolia...a Shaped card....Hope you're berry better soon!

Well, I was so excited about this challenge this week over at Just Magnolia! I have had this idea for a strawberry shaped card for a while and this week's challenge is "Let's get in shape" just the motivation I needed to test out my idea! I am quite happy with how it turned out and it was very easy to do with my handy-dandy Quickutz Silhouette!
This card is for Hannah's good friend Morgan, who was severely hurt by a bully at school on Friday. The poor thing had her shoulder dislocated and has several cracked ribs! It is just horrible what happened! I hope this card makes Morgan feel just a little better!
I used a strawberry Digital design to make this strawberry shaped card! It was very easy to do and I think it looks great!!!! I just opened the digital design, enlarged all the pieces at the same time to make a larger card, then ungrouped everything. Moved the pieces that I didn't need to the side. I copied the largest piece, so that I had two of the same shape, mirrored the second image, positioned it where I wanted it (above the first shape but with the tops of the two shapes crossing over slightly) and used the new weld feature to make the card outline. Then cut the strawberry shaped card base from pink Bazzill Bling cardstock. I then used the smaller shape of the strawberry to cut the front patterned paper and the inside. I then cut the stem portion from green Bazzill Bling. I saved the changes that I made to GSD file with a new name and now I can make a strawberry shaped card again!
For the image I stamped Tilda and the Magnolia Strawberries on Prism Simply Smooth cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured them with my copics.
I pop-dotted Tilda and the strawberries on the card and added the Computer generated sentiment, some ribbon, and BasicGrey brads for seeds! The inside sentiment is from the WOJ Summer stamp set!
Thanks for stopping by and having a wee peek!
Hope you have a great day!!!

BasicGrey Challenge #23.....Sing, Dance, Love and eat CUPCAKES.

Sweet! Time for another BasicGrey Challenge! This week we have a colour challenge for you and all the DT creations will be featuring fabulous printable stamps and sentiments from The Cutting Cafe's yummy "All about Cupcakes" set!

For the colour challenge you have the option of using one of these 3 yum-o colour combos on your creation and remember to read the BG Challenges rules and use at least one BasicGrey product on your creation too!
  • Pink and Green
  • Pink and Brown

  • Blue and Brown

I had a birthday card to make for a dear friend, so, I thought the sweet cupcake image and sentiments from The Cutting Cafe would be the perfect focal for this card along with Tilda, of course!
I picked the Blue and Brown colour combo for this card. I cut a 6x6 base from white Bazzill Swiss Dots cardstock and used BG Bittersweet and Urban Prairie papers. I cut the BG Bittersweet Almond Toffee paper with the largest circle Nestie and cut the largest petite scalloped circle in Bazzill Brown Bling for the mat! I embossed a strip of the Urban Prairie Bluebird paper with the Heart Blocks Cuttlebug Embossing folder and sanded it!

The cupcake is paper pieced with the BG pp. Sweetheart Tilda is stamped on Georgia Pacific paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured with Copic markers and Twinkling H2Os. A while back Nicole asked me about how I use Twinkling H2Os to colour my images. Well, I colour the image first with Copics and just use the Twinkling H2Os just to give a little more depth and a really nice shimmery effect.

On this image, I used Warm Pecan, Meridian Blue, African Jade, Almond Beige and Baby's Breath on her cheeks. I apply the paint with a Aquabrush. First adding a few drops of water into the pot and then I apply small amounts of Twinkling H2O paint to the image where I want to add a shadow or more depth to the colour. My favourite colours are Warm Pecan, Baby's Breath, Rose Gold and Almond Beige. Because I'm mainly colouring the image with my Copics, I stamp it on smooth paper, therefore, I don't use a lot of water as the paper will buckle if you get it too wet!

So back to the card.....The sentiment was printed and the edges inked with chalk ink and matted on circles cut with Petite scallop circle Nesties! All items were pot dotted and layered.

Some yummy American Craft ribbon and Shimmerized Prima flowers finish it off! The inside cards was finished with some off cuts and another sentiment was cut and inked!!!

I hope you can play along with us at BasicGrey Challenges this week!

Thanks for stopping by and I having a wee look!!!

Hugs,
