Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge #79...."Text" Me...Live Your Passion!

Photobucket

Hey Krafty friends! I'm so glad it is the weekend and it is a long weekend here in Canada...we have Monday off for Victoria day! That means an extra day to get Krafty for all the Canadian Krafty Girls out there! YAY!!!! So, I hope you're ready for another fun, Krafty challenge! This week at the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge blog, I've set the challenge.... "Text" me...so I would like to see "text" on your card or creations, perhaps it is printed or stamped on the paper, ribbon, flowers or other embellishment or it can be the sentiment! If you join the challenge and you use a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp on your creation then you will be entered into the random draw to win some free Krafty rubbah, whoo hoo! This week you have the chance to win the fabulous Janelle stamp from the new Sporty Girls collection that I have used on my card!

Photobucket

So, I thought I would colour up the fabulous, Janelle! I used my Copics and followed the Copic colour combination for darker skin tones suggested by Suzanne Dean in this video. I used some Scenic Route paper that I've had in my stash forever....some of my all time favourite paper. I especially love paper with text printed on it! I cut the flowers and the doily on my Silhouette. The leaves are from my MFT Upsy Daisy Die-namics die set. I added some BasicGrey brads to the centres of the flowers and a few black gems here and there.

Well, thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek at my Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps challenge card. Make sure to swing by the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge blog and check out all the gorgeous cards that the Krafty Girls and Krafty Guests have made to inspire you! Sweet, Krafty Girl, Krista is the hostess with mostest this week and she is asking to see BIG BUTTONS as the main embellishment on your creation...well, actually they don't have to be big, any size button will do just fine, smile! Krista has used the ever so sweet Becky Broadsword on her fab card this week! So get out those buttons BIG or small and have some Krafty fun!!!

Photobucket
For my card this week I used some of my favourite Scenic Route paper and teamed it up with one of the fabulous new quotes from Krafty Quotes # 2 set from the new March release! I love this quote...so inspirational and up-lifting...sorry, I couldn't resist, lol! I stamped it with Tim Holtz Distress embossing ink on kraft cardstock and then used American Crafts Zing White embossing powder...love that stuff!!!! I just love the look of a crisp, clean, white sentiment, don't you? It is so hard to get a good impression with white ink, trust me, I have tried them all, and I think the AC Zing White embossing powder yields the best results. I used my new My Favorite Things Fly a Kite Die-namics with die with this sentiment...prefect together. I also used some Blossom Twinery Twine for the tail of the kite and added little wee buttons.  The large button is from my BasicGrey stash. I used my Die-namics grass die too and then another sentiment from Kimmie's Everyday Sentiment set!

Well, thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek at my Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge DT card! Please stop by the KKS Challenge blog and see all the gorgeous cards the Krafty Girls have created to inspire you then get out those buttons big or small and join us for some krafty fun!

My Favorite Things...WSC Challenge...Super Star!

Photobucket
Hey crafty friends! Just a real quick post this morning to share the card I made last night for the My Favourite Things Wednesday Stamp Challenge. This week the challenge is...Super Star...to create a project featuring a "super star" or to make a project with stars.

Photobucket

For my card I decided to use the Who's that Girl Goes Green set and I used this fab Scenic Route paper that I just love! I am getting down to my last few sheets....eeeekkk! Well, this paper, just so happens, to have these fabulous stars on it, so, it was perfect for my card! I paper pieced the WTG and her shopping bags with co-ordinating Scenic Route paper and coloured the rest of the image with my Copics. I added some American Crafts ribbon and I just stamped the word "organic" from one of the sentiments that comes in the set and used this great sisal nameplate with red BG brads. Then I found the 100% acrylic embellishment in my stash!

Here is the inside...pretty simple...I used another one of the sentiments that comes in the set and I cut out the panel with my Nestie die, left the image in the die and inked with Old Paper Distress ink.

My Favorite Things...WSC Challenge...Floral Fantsay!

Good morning crafty friends! I am back again with another card to share with you! This time I made this card for the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club Challenge which is Floral Fantasy! I used one of my adorable little Pure Innocence Girls for this card. This cutie is actually from the Easter stamp set, My Basket of eggs, but I covered the eggs in her basket with Flower Soft. I also paper pieced her dress with Scenic Route pp and coloured the rest of the image with my Copics and cut her out and pop-dotted her on the Nestie rectangle.

I used this gorgeous Scenic Route paper that I had in my stash....not much of it left now. I will be very sad when it is all gone...love it soooo much! I also used some more of my new found love, crinkled seam binding! This is MS Seam Binding from Micheals that I have had in my stash forever and I just crinkled it myself which was super easy to do! There are a few great YouTube videos available if you are interested here and here. I tied this messy double bow with a button and I think it kind of looks like a flower. I stamped part of the sentiment from another MFT PI set (don't know the name off hand) on the front.

and then stamped the rest of the sentiment on the inside panel.

Thanks for stopping by and having a week peek at my card!
Have a stampin' great day!

I stamped her on Neenah card and coloured her with my Copics, cut the image out with my Nesties. I left the image in the die and used it as a stencil and inked with Pumice Stone and Black Soot Distress inks to colour in the background.
Again, I have used Scenic Route pp and some red velvet ribbon and made my cardbase with white American Crafts cardstock! I have embellished with a few Primas layered with roses from the dollar store and I added a little Stickles for some shimmer to the flowers and Guinevere! I also encrusted her Crown with a little bling! The sentiment is from Kimmie's Everyday Sentiment set and I again cut the image with Nestie tag and inked with Pumice Stone and Black Soot Distress Ink.

Here is the inside....I used one of the 2 sentiments that come with Guinevere and stamped it on Technique Tuesday FUNdamentals chipboard from the Swanky Frames set. Then Inked it the chipboard pieces with Barn Door and a touch of Black Soot Distress inks.

So as promised I am back again this morning with another preview card for Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps April Release! Just a reminder that we are having a fabulously fun Krafty Blog Hop this Sunday April 11th, when all the new April stamps are released and available at the Kraftin' Kimmie on-line store! Tomorrow is our Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge day and we have a "little" krafty goodness to surprise you with tomorrow for the challenge!

So for my card I am featuring one of the gorgeous new images from the Moonlight Whispers collection by Krafty artist, Annie Rodrigue! This is Marie Antoinette and isn't she simply stunning! She is a blast to colour too! So, I'm on a bit of a Scenic Route, velvet ribbon and cotton lace trim, kick with my cards this week, smile! This paper just seemed to work sooo well with the images and I am loving the velvet ribbon and cotton lace trim combo too...kinda like when the kids had food jags...I'm having a craft supplies jag, lol!
I stamped Marie Antoinette on Neenah card and coloured her with my Copics then cut her out using the "Out of the Box Technique" with my Nesties. I used Tim Holtz Distress ink for the back ground in Mustard Seed. I also wanted the "pearls" in her hair to really pop so I applied a little Stix2 PVA glue with a tooth pick and then used White Stix2 transfer foil after the glue had dried. It gives it a little more dimension IRL! This sentiment and one other comes with Maire Antoinette...the nameplate is a QuicKutz 2x2 die and cut it from some co-ordinating Scenic Route pp. The fabric brad is by BasicGrey Origins and I popped off the blue gem that was on it and added the red gem.

Here is the inside....this sentiment is from Kimmie's Everyday Sentiment set!

I really love this new image "it makes me happy"and it was such a joy to colour with copics. I made my cardbase from brown American Crafts Damask cardstock and used Scenic Route pp that I have had in my stash for a while. To embellish, I used some brown velvet ribbon, Cotton lace trim and sheer ribbon tied into a buttony bow and then I sprinkled a few tiny buttons here and there. This sentiment comes with the image and I stamped it on a scrap of Scenic Route paper in Memento Rich Cocoa.

Sketch Saturday #52 Colour Create Challenge #17...Sweet Wishes!

Here is the card I made with the great sketch over at Sketch Saturday this week. I just flipped it so I could use the rectangle in portrait instead of landscape! I also played along with the Colour Create Challenge as the colours combo sounds so delicious Lemon, Pink Sorbet and Chocolate! YUM-O!!!!
I started riffling through my patterned paper to match the colour combo and I decided to go with these Scenic Route papers again. I just love this collection! I stamped Willow from the WOJ Summer Stamp set on Prism simply Smooth cardstock with Memento Tuxedo black ink and masked her and stamped the beautiful WOJ fruit tree! I decided to make it a lemon tree...well, I guess it could be a golden apple tree too, smile! I coloured the image with my Copics markers and sponged the background with Distress inks.
The puffy yellow Prima flower is from a pack of flowers that I got at Micheals on sale...they're so delish...love them too! The pretty rose bud were the perfect colour and so pretty too! They came all the way from Scotland from my very sweet blogging pal, Judy! Thanks Judy, they are gorgeous! The sentiment is from the WOJ Summer stamp set and the pearls are from the dollar store.
Thanks for stopping by and having a week peek and thanks for all the great comments too! I really appreciate them!!!

Sweet Precious Friend...Thank you Anki!!!

I wanted to share this card that I made for my very good blogging friend Anki! She was so helpful recently when I had a mix up with my Magnolia Spring stamp kit order! She was kind enough to make several phone calls to Magnolia for me and straighten things out! It was so kind of her to take the time to do all this leg work for me!!! I was so thrilled when my stamps finally arrived from Sweden a week or so later!!! Thanks Anki!!! You are such a sweetie for helping me out and don't think my stamps would have ever arrived without your assistance!!!! This is what I love most about stamping, cardmaking and blogging...the fabulous friends that you make along the way!!!!

This is my fave Tilda from the spring set Chasing Butterflies and I just love the beehive too! I used this fabulous Scenic Route paper again...loving it, loving the colour combo!

I sent Anki this wee bumblebee cell phone charm handmade by my friend Kate! A few people have asked me if Kate has a blog or a website. I don't believe she does but I will suggest it the next time I see her, smile!!!!
I finished the inside too!
Do you realize I have posted three days in a row that is a new record for me! I personally can't believe it! Well, gotta go see who gets the boot on Dancing with the Stars!!! Unfortunately, I think Ty is heading home but he sure is a sweetie!!!!
Thanks for stopping by and having a wee peep at my card!!!

FS # 48 & Copic Colour Challenge # 9 & a Copic Mini-Tutorial....Thanks a Bunch!

I made this card today for Friday Sketchers Challenge #48 and for Copic Colour Challenge # 9! The colours this week at CCC are R59 Cardinal, G99 Olive, YR07 Cadmium Orange.
Well, It took me the better part of the day to make this card but I have a good reason for why it took sooooo long. I decided to do up a mini-tutorial, demonstrating one of the Copic colouring techniques that I used on this card. You can also find this technique explained in greater detail on Marianne Walker's blog I like markers.
So, I hope you like my very mini version...it is my first one and not that great....I took all the pics myself with my left hand, lol! I must have looked pretty goofy but I was home alone so that was the best I could do, smile!!!

I was reading Jacqui's blog earlier today and admiring her stunning creations!!! Well, She was mentioning that she doesn't usually colour her Elizabeth Bell images with her Copics because she likes the soft look of the distress inks and thinks it is better suited to the images. Well, it made me think of this technique that I learned at the Copic Certification class and from Marianne's Blog I Like Markers to achieve a water colour or distress ink "look" but with your Copics.

So....here goes the mini-tutorial...eeeeekkk!!!

So for this technique you will need a Koi watercolour tank brush filled with Copic colourless blender fluid. I label mine and keep them separate from my other brushes.

I cut the oval from Scenic Route paper on my Silhouette and inked all the edges with Tim Holtz Distress inks and the Sponging tool thingy. I used Antique Linen, Mustard Yellow, Scattered Straw, Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo. I then Stamped the Magnolia vine stamp around the oval in Brushed Corduroy.

I wanted to add a little more colour to the leaves on the vine but I wanted it to be very subtle! So, to get a nice water coloured effect, I scribbled some Copic marker ink on a sheet of plastic but you can also use an acrylic block. Then I picked up the ink off of the plastic with a Koi watercolour tank brush that had been filled with Copic Colourless Blender Fluid and applied it to the leaves. Start where you want the darkest colour and brushing out until all the ink is off the brush.

Then I did the same with the flowers in Tilda's basket as I wanted them to have a more subtle water colour look to them!
and then I coloured in her bows this way as well. On some of the flowers I wanted a darker shade of the Cardinal, so I add some ink directly from the marker to the image and then spread it around, lighting it, with the Koi brush filled blender fluid.

And this is the finished card! I'm quite happy with how it turned out and I used a lot of Magnolia stamps that I have bought but not really played with so that was a bonus! I used this "water colouring" technique on the Magnolias leaves and one of the flowers! I also, used my clear Spica pen to add a lot of twinkle to the images.

I am always sooooo inspired by the uber talented Tab and this time I thought I would do up the inside of my card too! I love how she adds in an extra image on the inside. I have cased her cards and done the same here and I really love how it looks!!! Hope you don't mind, Tab!!!

So there you have it! I hope you like my very mini-tut, if you can even call it that!!! Was it okay? like I said it is my first one...next time I decided to do one I will get Hannah or Chirs to take the pics instead of me juggling my camera with my left hand, lol!

Thanks for stopping by and having a wee peek! Hope you have a great week!

Hugs,
