BasicGrey Challenges # 20...Follow the Sketch...Celebrate!

I just love having a great sketch to follow! I find it's just one less thing I need to figure out and I can put my creative energy into picking the colours, paper and embellishments...ya know, the fun stuff, smile! Well, the challenge this week at BasicGrey Challenges is to follow the Sketch! Martine has designed another fabulous sketch this week. She is quite the talent when it comes to designing fab sketches!!! I really enjoyed using this one and will definitely use it again, as, it has a lot of possibilities!!!

My Mom's birthday is coming up in February! I've made this card for her as she is a coffee lover just like me! Actually, I think, I got my love for coffee from her! My Mom is a very busy lady, she is always doing something, always on the go and has such a hard time just sitting and relaxing! I hope this card will let her know that she needs to and should relax!!! So, I hope she will have a fabulous cup of coffee and celebrate the every day....those simple pleasures in life!!!

For this card I made the cardbase 6x6 out of Bazzill Basics black cardstock and picked some gorgeous papers from BG Ambrosia collection and teamed it up with this gorgeous WOJ image Willow with Hot Chocolate. I stamped the image of Willow on Georgia Pacific paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her with my Copics. I thought I would be a bit daring and attempt to colour Willow's hair black! I think it is very difficult to colour the hair dark brown or black effectively! I'm not sure I have got it quite right but not too bad for my first go at it but definitely need more practice!

I cut and embossed the image with my new curvy rectangle Nesties and sponged Metallic Rub-ons around the image to bring out the embossed edge. I matted the image on some orange Bazzill Bling.
The large orange blossom is by Prima and I attached it with a large Bazzill Brad that I have had in my stash forever! I cut the label for the sentiment with a 2x2 QK die and added the word "Celebrate", a QK rub-on! Then some of that new yummy orange ribbon and some yum-o black crushed velvet ribbon, the pearls and the two BG Bittersweet brads. Lastly, I added some Crystal Stickels here and there!!!

Well, there you have it! I hope my Mom likes this card! I know she will! Don't worry! I'm not concerned about her seeing it before her birthday. My mom has zero interest in computers and she wouldn't have the first idea how to turn the computer on, let alone, find my blog, lol!
Thanks for stopping by and having a wee look-see! Make sure to go see the other fab creations by the other BG DT members over on the BasicGrey Challenges blog and I hope you can join in the challenge this week and follow the sketch!!!
Hugs,

Wow, Tara, what a huge effort you have put into this card! I like how you have matched the image and the papers. I can't believe it gets to minus degrees in Toronto! Even in our winter it never gets that low. I hope your Mum enjoys receiving this special card. Hugs, Anthea xx.
