Friday Sketchers # 50...Hey Cutie!

This is the one and only card I made on Saturday when I was hanging out with my scrapbooking friends! Can you believe that it took me 15 hrs,ROFL! Well, there was eating and a lot of chit-chat that consumed most of that time, lol!!! I even had assistance with this card from my best bud, Dana! She cut the wavy band for the card with my BoBunny Flex Ruler that I have yet to use. I love this wavy band though and will definitely do that again on a card!
I made this card following the fabulous sketch by Beatrix over on Friday Sketchers Challenge blog this week! I really like this sketch definitely one to use again!

I used this scrumptious Scenic Route paper again...I am just loving it to bits at the mo and I adore this Tilda and beehive stamp from the Chasing Butterflies collection too. I stamped Tilda on Prism Simply Smooth cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and coloured her with my Copics and cut her out. I stamped the beehive and bees with Memento Rich Cocoa ink on Prism Simply Smooth cardstock and sponged the image with Distress inks. I added some sparkle with my clear Copic Spica pen!

I finished the inside of the card and used the off cut from the wavy bit from the front of the card! the Reddish brown cardstock was a scrap and was a bit wrinkled but it was the perfect match so I crumpled up even more and distressed the edges with my Tim Holtz Distressing tool!
Thanks for stopping by and having a looksey!

WOJ # 28 Stars and Stipes and Sketch Saturday # 49....Congratulations on your graduation!

Well, I had a fabulous time yesterday at Cathy's house scraping and stamping with Cathy, Dana, Michelle, Rita and Anna!!! We had a great time yackin'. Unfortunately, I didn't accomplish a lot...ummm...I made one card in 15 hrs but I still had a great time and I think I rolled in around 1:00 a.m. this morning!!! Definitely a really fun way to spend National scrapbooking day...with friends, smile!!!
So It is May and do you know what that means...yup...my 2 month (May and June) stint as GDT for WoJ has started along with Malin and Lacey! I am sooooo super excited! I still can't believe it...YAY!!!! I think I need someone to pinch me again! I went and visited Katharina's blog and my name is there on the sidebar...YAY!!! So, I thought I would prime the creative juices by playing along with this week's challenge over at the WoJ Challenge blog! The challenge is Stars and Stripes and I used this week's fabulous sketch at Sketch Saturday for the layout!
I was asked by a co-worker if I could make a graduation card for her niece who is graduating from Gallaudet University, the only Liberal Arts University in World for the Deaf, in Washington D.C.!!!! So, this is what I came up with and I'm really happy with how it turned out! I hope she likes it!

I made a 6x6 cardbase from black cardstock and used this fabulous Scenic Route paper that I have had in my stash for a while. Yes I was hording it.lol! How perfect stars and stripes right in the pattern paper and I love the colours! I cut the mat on my Silhouette by resizing a tag GSD file and then cut the open scalloped border on my Silhouette too!
I stamped "Melinda Reading A Book" on Prism Simply Smooth cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her in with my Copics. I cut her out with my circle Nesties, embossed it and then used the Nestie as a template and sponged the background with Distress inks! I did the same with the tag and the sentiment stamp is from My Favorite Things.
I added a few Primas with BG brads and some yummy American Crafts ribbon a little Shimmerz on Melinda's wings and the flowers for a little sparkle!
I decorated the inside too and I used the stack of books from the WoJ accessories set and did the same process as I did with the front image. I printed the inside sentiment on the computer..."Shine like the star that you are! Congratulations on your graduation"
This was such a fun card to make but when I first saw this sketch I wondered how in the heck I would make the half circle/rectangle mat thing but it did finally come together thanks to my handy dandy Silhouette, smile!!!!

Thanks for stopping by and having a wee peek and thank you so much for all the lovely comments. I do really appreciate them all! Well, I hope you have a good week!

Oh, I thought I would leave you with a couple picies from yesterday!
(Anna, Rita and Dana...Michelle and Cathy must have been Camera shy, smile)

Look at all that combined stash, lol!!! Also, want to give a shout out and big thank you to all my friends yesterday! They so kindly bought cards to support The Canadian Hearing Society! I have raised $305 dollars for CHS!

BasicGrey Challenges # 33...A Colour Combo Challenge....I heart U!!!

So, this really is going to be a quick post! I still have to finish packing all my stuff and then head over to my friend's house for all day stamping fun! Now that I have a craft room it is very hard to get packed up and go to a crops! I have way tooooooooooo much stuff to pack! Yes, I know, I should be more organized and only bring what I really need but I will need it all, lol!!!!

It is Saturday and that means it is BasicGrey challenge day and we have a great colour combo for you this week!
Black + Grey + 1
from the blog....
"Now you may be asking what does the +1 mean, well this means that you can choose the third colour for your creation :), sounds like fun doesn't it :), now don't forget that you must also use at least 1 item from BasicGrey somewhere on your creation, so have fun and we can wait to see your wonderful creations and what third colour you have chosen :)
Now to make this challenge that much sweeter, we have a fabulous prize to give away to one lucky winner.
This week we are very generously being sponsored by Regina From The Cutting Cafe has very kindly offered the winner of this weeks challenge, a choice of any 2 downloads from her store, how kind is that :)"

For my card I made the base 6X6 from some silvery grey Bazzill Bling cardstock and used BG Ambrosia 6x6 paper pad! I inked the edges with my Inkssentials blending tool and foam and some chalk inks! I stamped Tilda on Prism Simply Smooth cardstock and coloured her with my Copics and added lots of Stickles here and there and again inked the edges with my inkssentials foam and Metallic Rub-ons and apricot chalk ink. The sentiment is Kelly Panacci clear stamp set and the tag is a Qk 2x2 die! The yummy ribbon is from Micheals and I added few Primas and dollar store rose buds and Shimmerized all the flowers.
I finished the inside but didn't get a good pic but I used the Magnolia gift with bow from Christmas and used a Melissa Frances rub-on for the inside sentiment says...a gift from the heart!
So, there you have it! It was a ton of fun using this colour combo and I hope you can play along with us this week! Make sure you visit the other talented BG DT members and see their gorgeous creations and then you will not be able to resist playing along with us, smile!!!
Have a stampin' great day!!!

Spoon Full of Sugar # 49 Blue and Green.......Oh Happy day!

Just a quick post this evening to show you this card that I have been working on a little bit every night for the last few nights. I wanted to play along with the challenge over at A Spoon full of Sugar again this week cuz I had so much fun with last week's sketch!
The Challenge this week is Green and Blue...well this colour combo always reminds me of a little saying my Mum would tell me when I was little "Blue and Green should never be seen except inside the washing machine", lol! I actually really like blue and Green together but I also I like red and pink together too and apparently that is another colour combo no-no, smile! Well, after I knew what colour combo I was going to use I went searching for a sketch. I just wasn't in the mood to come up with the card design either a bit lazy in fact, smile!
Well, I had no luck finding a sketch so then I got sidetracked and started blog hopping...I went and visited my blogging pal Kathy the Distressed Stampers!!! Well, I just fell in love with this stunning card! OMG!! It is so stunningly beautiful! I can't even tell you how long I just sat and stared at every little detail...absolutely brilliant! I just love it!!! So, I printed it and decided to use her fabulous card design as my sketch and inspiration for this card!!!!

Well, I am pretty happy with how mine turned out! Thanks Kathy for the fabulous inspiration!
I used some scraps of this BoBunny paper that I had left over from a scrapbooking page that I did last year and this new yummy American Craft ribbon that I picked up at Micheals! I cut the big label shape on my Silhouette and the "play circle label" is from Shabby Shoppe and I printed it on Kraft cardstock for a little different look!
I stamped Tilda and the butterfly on Prism Simply Smooth cardstock and coloured them with my Copics and added lots of Shimmerz! I also inked around the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Inks Antique Linen and Scattered Staw and added the Melissa Frances rub-ons directly to the main image and the label on the inside of the card.

I finished my inside too...this card will going in my sale bin at work! I have raised $240 for The Canadian Hearing Society and I am so excited but my card pile is getting low! I would like to see if I can reach $300 by the end of May!!! I will have to get busy and make more cards, lol!!!
Thanks for stopping by and having a wee peek! Now I am off to pack up all my crafty stuff as I am going to my friends house tomorrow for a girls scrapping, stamping cardmaking day and hope to make lots of cards!

Just Magnolia #2 and Sketch Saturday #48....Tiny Baby & Little Star!

Hey! We are back from Kieran's 1st Communion it was a beautiful Mass and all the children looked like little angels. Kieran was sooo good and even smiled a few times for the camera, lol! We had a lovely afternoon and he was very pleased with himself! We ordered Chinese food for dinner as a little special treat and then the kids went back outside to play! I went and finished up these cards that I have been working on in between all the busyness of this weekend!
I'm so pleased with both of them but I am partial to this little girl card....too cute! I used the fab sketch over at Sketch Saturday for both cards but this baby girl card I made for the challenge this week at Just Magnolia! The challenge is to use pink and green.

I stamped Tingla on Prism Simply Smooth White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then made a mask on a yellow post-it note and then stamped the ribbon. I love this Magnolia ribbon stamp from the Valentines collection it is sooooo versatile when you want something for Tilda and Edwin to sit on!
I picked up this great paper called Baby Safari by Little Yellow Bicycle. I just love it and I think it will be great for other cards not just baby cards! The sentiment is a Melissa Frances rub-on. I coloured the heart in with a pink Sakura Stardust pen. I am just loving these Prima flowers with the leaves attached. I added Shimmez here and there to Tingla and the flowers. The ribbon is American Crafts and the heart brads are Making Memories. I cut the ribbon slider for the sentiment with my Nesties die.
Here is the baby boy card, again I used the great Baby Safari paper and followed the Sketch Saturday sketch. The sentiment is stamped and from a Fancy Pants acrylic baby stamp set...I love this set! I coloured the star in with my Sakura Yellow Stardust pen, ribbon is from my stash and star brads are Making Memories. I used my EK Success Scalloped scallop border punch on both cards.

I finished the insides on both cards cuz these cards are going to be packaged up and added to the sale bin. Well, actually the baby girl card is already sold, yay!!! I can't believe how well the cards are selling and all the $$$ that I raise in the month of May is going to The Canadian Hearing Society (where I work as an American Sign Language Interpreter).
Thanks for stopping by and having a wee peek!!! Hope you have a great week!!!

Dottie's World Sunday Challenge....For a Teen by Adele...Happy Birthday ~16 Totally a Teen!!! & Some Sad News!!!

Well, yesterday was a busy day and today will be too! I helped Chris build a shed in the backyard from a kit that he got at Costco. It was actually kinda fun...Shhhh...don't tell him I said that or I will have to help him out like that more often, smile! I was actually pretty good at following the directions and visualizing how it was suppose to go together from the pics in the instruction manual...kinda proud of myself!!! It was a beautiful day to be outside and I even got a little sun...I didn't think to put any sun screen on so I am a little burnt. I also tried to get around and say "hi" but my computer (or blogger) wasn't cooperating...not sure what's up with that...eeekk! Hope it isn't my computer! Kieran has his First Communion so another busy day today!!!!

Now for the sad news....I unfortunately had to let Louise and Karen know that I was steeping down from Dottie's World Sunday Challenge...I was really sad to have to do that as I do love the Holly & Madison images soooo and Mikey is such a cutie!!! I have been having printer issues (so I need a new one soon when the budget allows) and it is a laser jet printer which means the ink is not compatible with my Copics! This has been the major issue for me!!! I have been spraying my images with a fixative and the fumes are killing me...not to mention all the stress of my printer working on and off!!! So, this is, very sadly, my last DT card for Dottie's World..sniffle, sniffle! Karen, Louise and all the ladies at DW Sunday Challenge have been just fabulous to work with and I will miss them and the fun chit chat at the DW DT Forum!

This week's challenge was set by Adele and it was great fun! I really enjoyed making this card!!!! I used this fabby new American Crafts Teen paper collection. The cardbase is 6X6, cut from some Black Bazzill Basics cardstock! I was yackin' on the phone with my mum when I was making this card and I was rummaging around on my desk and saw this fancy label that I'd cut on my Silhouette months ago! It was a perfect fit for Madison and I was so happy with how it looks on this card. I ran the black piece through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder and did the same to the number 16 and the QK photo corner! the ribbon is American Crafts too!!!

I printed Madison on Prism Simply Smooth White cardstock and coloured her with my Copics! I sponged around her with some pink Metallic Rub-Ons to give her a bit of a pink glow and It doesn't show in the pic but I used my Sakura Glaze pen and added some gloss to her lips and went over the cord, ipod and her bracelet! It looks fab IRL!!!

Well, that is a very sad post for me!!!! I will really miss the Dottie's World Sunday Challenge DT they are just the kindest ladies!!! I have to tell you my 9 year old daughter, Hannah, is totally bummed out too! She just adores Holly and Madison, so there are two very long faces here at the Godfrey household!!!!

So, a big, big thank you hug to Louise, Karen, Juliet, Adele, Nicola, Kat and Vanessa for making my very short time on DW so much fun!!!! Go check out their fab DT cards!!!

Thanks for stopping by and having a wee peek! Hope you have a great day!!!!

BasicGrey Challenges # 32...A Fab Sketch by Chris....Miss Thing!!!

So, it is Saturday and you know what that means!? Yup! Time for another BasicGrey challenge!!!! Can you believe we are #32 already! WOW!!! Well, we have an absolutely fabulous sketch for you by our lovely and uber talented Chris! I hope you can play along with us this week! I know you will love this sketch and I know you will be totally inspired to join us when you see the fabulous creations of our BG DT....go have a peek!!! They are all sooo stunning and some gals are lucky enought o have soem new BG papers to play with already!!!!

Well, I wish I actually owned this adorable stamp of Anya but unfortunately I don't!!! She and her friends are on my wish list though! I was lucky enough to have my good blogging, crafting, and BG DT buddy Tara send me some fabulous Anya images and I just had to colour this one up as it so reminds me of our Hannah! I coloured her with my Copics and sponged the moody background with my beloved Metallic Rub-ons!

I bought this adorable cell phone charm that was handcrafted by my friend Kate! She makes so many different ones and they are all so precious. I wish I could have them all...just like stamps, lol!!! I have a gorgeous, yummy apple that dangles from my wallet zipper and I bought a wee monkey holding a banana too! I think I might make a card for him to go on too! I asked her if she could make me some butterflies to add to cards! When I saw this purse I thought of Anya with her handbag and I decided to make the card to co-ordinate with the charm, so I used BG Euphoria. The charm is just hanging from the flower and is easily removed to add to your cell phone, purse, wallet or wherever you want a little bling, really!

The sentiments are Melissa Frances Rub-ons and I used some rhinestone crystal thingys for the centres of the small QK flowers. they were clear and I just coloured them to match with my Copic marker. The darker marker colours work best for this and the crystal won't be as dark as the maker colour would be on paper!

Thanks for stopping by and having a wee looksey!!!! I hope you can play along with us at BasicGrey Challenges!
