My Favorite Things...GDT Challenge...Stitch it Up...Very Happy Birthday!

Photobucket

Good morning crafty friends! I thought I would give the GDT challenge over at My Favorite Things a go! The challenge is....Stitch it Up.....well, I'm sooooo not a sewer but I thought I would do my usual faux stitching with my stitching stamps and I also added a very little bit of hand stitching.  I did ask for a sewing machine for Christmas cuz I just love the look of machine stitching on cards but I got my pressie early...my iMac computer. I don't think I will be getting the sewing machine now but I am very happy with my mac so I can't complain, smile. Well, I am not sure I have much of a chance at winning the GDT spot as there are so many talented MFT fans out there who are sooooo good with the sewing machine but I needed to make a card anyways and I love how it turned out.

My daughter's BFF is turning 11 year old this week so this is her b-day card! I inked up sweet Birthday Ballon Jolinne and coloured her with my Copics. I made an easel card, my fave, with AC and Bazzill cardstock and used BG Olivia 6x6 pp. I added a doily that I spritzed with Glimmer Mists in Hula Hoop and Patina. I added stamped stitching to all the layers with Kelly Panacci Acrylic stitching stamps and stamped with Distress ink in Chipped Sapphire. I added a BG Olivia Canvas tag and embellished with a cork heart that I cross stitched on and a button. I added a QuicKutz tag and cut the number 11 from a QuicKutz alphabet out of the QuicKutz cork material too. The "Smile" sentiment in the BG Canvas heart tag is a Melissa Frances rub-on. I used the notebook edge die-namics die and Die-namics Framed Greetings stamp and die set on this card too. I also added some of this scrumptious and shimmery ribbon and sewed my button like I have seen, Joanne B. from Just a Little Something, do here in her buttony bow tutorial.

Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed and my toes too...eeekkkkk! I would sooooooooo love to be the MFT GDT for January. MFT has the December release coming up and a release party over on the MFT forum at Splitcoast Stampers on Wednesday December 1st, where they will announce the winner of the GDT challenge. If you are interested in joining the MFT GDT challenge you have until November 30 at 10:00 p.m EST...all the details are here!

Thanks for stopping by and having a wee peek at my MFT GDT card!

My Favorite Things...WSC Challenge...SIZE MATTERS!

Photobucket

Hey! I am back to share a card I made this weekend for the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club Challenge. This week the challenge (MFTWSC11242010) is Thankful for....! I have had this idea for this card for a while now and thought it was the perfect opportunity to whip up this cheeky thank you card! I am totally loving my A La Modes stamps and this girlie, Miss you a Latte, is my fave at the mo, with her huge take-out coffee cups...I am totally thankful for good coffee and for good friends...and I know just the friend to give this card to,smile!

Photobucket

So for my card I used October Afternoon papers mostly from the Very Merry Collection but I think one of the papers is from another collection. I coloured the image, Miss you a Latte, with my Copics and cut it out and pop-dotted on the Nestie die. I decided that this large green felt flower, that I have had in my stash for a while, would be perfect for this card and I stitched on a BG button with embroidery floss. I also added some crinkled seam binding and tied it in a double bow and added another BG button with embroidery floss. I thought it would be fun to use this "tongue in cheek" sentiment from my the MFT Twisted Sentiments set with the bottom sentiment from the MFT Essential Sentiments set. When it comes to coffee, size, certainly, does matter, lol!

Well, thank you grande for stopping by and having a wee peek at my card!

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #74....Summer-time theme....Memories of Summer!

Photobucket

Hello friends! it is time for a new challenge over at Magnolia Down Under challenges and this week the challenge is....Summer-time! What a nice departure this was from all the Christmas card making that I have been doing. I really enjoyed this challenge! I hope you can join us this week! Just remember that you need to use at least one Magnolia stamped image on your creation! The MDUC DT has gorgeous creations to share and to inspire you. Pop on over to the MDUC blog and visit the DT to see all their gorgeous creations!

Photobucket

I used a mixture of October Afternoon papers...very summery, I think. I also wanted to ink up this sweet image called Circus Tilda...to me she looks like a proper, Southern Belle, all dressed up, perhaps sitting out on the veranda, sipping a lemonade. I thought she would be perfect for this card. I used the Magnolia Summer background stamps to set the summery scene. I coloured all the images with my Copics and I cut the background image out with my circle Nesties and cut out Tilda and pop dotted her on the card. I used a little cotton lace trim and AC ribbon. I stamped one of the Catslife Press label stamps on craft card and the other sentiments are Melissa Frances rub-ons.

Thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek at my MDUC DT card!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge # 56....Seeing Spots!

Hey Krafty friends!!!! I am back with another post this morning! We have another fabulously fun challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge blog today! This week, The Queen of all things Krafty, Kraftin' Kimmie, herself, has set the challenge and she would like to see spots and dots on your creation!

So get out your spotty paper or dotty ribbon and join us! If you use a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp on your creation then you will be entered into the draw for some KKStamps rubbah! Kimmie has used the sweet Lavender the Quilter on her beautiful card and you could win a Lavender stamp of your very own!

So for my card...well, I actually made 3 cards but I kept them really simple, so they were easy to put together. I thought it would be good to have some smaller note size cards on hand for those times when you need a Christmas card and fast. I used this absolutely adorable image called Mice Angels by Steven Leary! I coloured the images with my Copics and used Prism cardstock and BG Jovial 6x6 paper and some BG Wassail and Jovial brads.

Photobucket

I also added some Stickels to the images and used some ribbon from my stash. The sentiments are from Kimmie's Holiday Sentiment set. I am quite happy with how these turned out and they were sooooo quick to put together....love that! I think I might make a few more, smile.

Well, I hope you can join us at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge this week! Please stop by the KKStamps challenge blog and see all the beautifully spotty and dotty creations by the Krafty Girls!

Have a stampin' great day!

BasicGrey Challenges # 34....A Recipe....No Peeking, Edwin!

Good morning crafty friends! We had a little treat this week! A Cirque Du Soleil show called Dralion has come to our city. We got tickets, so, my Mom and Dad, Chris, the kids and I, all went to see it on Wednesday night and it was absolutely amazing, as always!!!! This was the 5th Cirque show that Chris and I have been to. I love Cirque Du Soleil! If you ever get a chance to see one I highly recommend it!

So it is the weekend, YAY! My fave time; my crafty time, that I look forward to all week! I am in serious Christmas card mode and I am really enjoying it! I've even been making some cards during the week!  So, it is time for a fun challenge at BG Challenges. This fortnight we have a fabulous recipe challenge! I hope you can join us! Please swing by the BasicGGrey Challenges blog and see all the stunning creations by the super talented BG DT they are sure to inspire!

The Recipe

4 Different Types of Embellishments(You can have as many of each type as you wish, as long as there are 4 different kinds, for example Ribbon, Pearls, Flowers, Charms etc etc)
3 Different Patterned Papers
(You can have as many plain matting papers as you wish, just as long as there are 3 patterned papers)
1-2 Images and/or 1-2 Sentiments(You can choose to have up to 2 in either of these, or even both if you wish)

Photobucket

I decided to ink up this sweet Edwin! I totally neglect poor Edwin and he is a doll too! I really need to use him more. I love how he is clutching his we pressie! So, again I embossed the Magnolia tree with Northern Lights embossing powder and coloured Edwin with my Copics and cut him out. He is pop-dotted on the card. I made an easel card from Bassill cardstock and matted with some kraft cardstock and used 3 different sheets of BG Jovial 6x6 papers. I absolutely love this paper to bits. I stamped the stitching with my Kelly Panacci stamps and Distress ink. I added the No Peeking sentiment by Kelly Panacci on a QK tag. my 4 different embellies are a Jovial Brad, pearls, red velvet AC ribbon and Prima and WOC flowers. The sentiment on the bottom of the easel card is from the Magnolia Merry Little Christmas 2010 Collection.

Cute Card Thursday # 140...You Light up My Life!

Photobucket

Hey crafty friends! Hope everyone is keeping well! Has the weather turned cold on you yet? Well, it is  starting to get really cold here. Winter is on its way I'm afraid and this year they are predicting a good old fashioned Canadian winter for us. I guess we are due, since last year we didn't have any snow to speak of. Well, I have an appointment to get the old snow tires put on the van on Saturday. So, I should be good and ready for the white stuff, smile!

Well, enough weather talk (a Canadian past time, smile) I have a card to share with you today! I made it for the challenge over at Cute Card Thursday! They have a really neat idea for the challenge....A Blast from the Past...so we are to pick one of the previous CCT challenges but not the free for all challenge. So, I have picked Challenge # 129, A Play on Words!

Photobucket

As I have said I am in serious Christmas card making mode, so, once again, I have made an easel card and used BG Jovial 6x6 papers! I used this adorable Magnolia stamp, Tilda in a Winter Night, from the Merry Little Christmas 2010 collection! I absolutely adore her and I loved colouring her with my Copcis. I cut her out with my rectangle Nesties using the "Out of the Box" technique and left the image in the die and inked with Pumice Stone and Black Soot Distress ink! I cute the Magnolia border die from MFT My Favorite Felt and I used this great sentiment, perfect for the Play on Word Challenge, from the MFT WTG, Winter in the City stamp set. I also used my Magnolia flourish die and cut it from some glittery cardstock and I cut MFT Die-namics snowflakes from the glitter cardstock too. I layered the snowflakes with the Prima and WOC roses. I added a few white half pearls here and there and some crushed black velvet ribbon....I love velvet with plaid...it's the perfect combo, me thinks. I also added Sakura Glaze pen to Tilda's lantern but it didn't show up in the pic.

Well, thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek at my card!

Hope you have a stampin' great day!

My Favorite Things...WSC Challenge...Make a Wish!

Photobucket

Hello crafty friends! I am back with another card to share that I made this evening to enter the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club challenge and I'm just getting it in under the wire. You also get a bit of a reprieve from Christmas cards, lol, as I needed to make a b-day card for a friend. I thought it was the perfect time to ink up one of my A La Mode stamps from MFT for the first time....and....I'm totally hooked on these sweeties!!!
Photobucket
So, the challenge this week is to be inspired by the song My Favorite Things from the movie The Sound of Music. Well, I was inspired by the line "....crisp apple strudels" now, I know this isn't exactly an apple strudel but it's a close as I am going to get to the yummy pastry, me thinks, smile!

So, I inked up, A La Mode Time to Celebrate with her rather large and delish looking cake, I added the candles that comes in the set and coloured her with my Copics. I cut the image out with my new Nesties and left the image in the die and inked with Pumice Stone Distress ink. I also made a thin mat by cutting around the outer edge of the die with my Fiskers Finger Grip craft knife. I need a new blade so don't look too closely, smile!  I made an easel card 5 3/8X6 and used BG Green at Heart and some AC cardstock and ribbon! I decided to cut these MFT Die-namics flowers and these Die-namics Flowers from My Favorite Felt in brown and cream from the Banana Split collection. I added BG Green at heart brads to the centres and added ribbon leaves. I also cut the Die-namics scalloped scallop border from the cream coloured My Favourite felt.  The sentiment Make a wish is from the WTG Birthday set and the bottom sentiment is from the Time to Celebrate set and stamped on the MFT Die-namics Framed Greetings Die and stamp set. To finish the card off I added a little Stickles to the candles and icing.

I had fun making this card tonight and it was nice to take a break from the Christmas cards.

Thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek at my card!
