BasicGrey Challenges # 34....A Recipe....No Peeking, Edwin!

Good morning crafty friends! We had a little treat this week! A Cirque Du Soleil show called Dralion has come to our city. We got tickets, so, my Mom and Dad, Chris, the kids and I, all went to see it on Wednesday night and it was absolutely amazing, as always!!!! This was the 5th Cirque show that Chris and I have been to. I love Cirque Du Soleil! If you ever get a chance to see one I highly recommend it!

So it is the weekend, YAY! My fave time; my crafty time, that I look forward to all week! I am in serious Christmas card mode and I am really enjoying it! I've even been making some cards during the week!  So, it is time for a fun challenge at BG Challenges. This fortnight we have a fabulous recipe challenge! I hope you can join us! Please swing by the BasicGGrey Challenges blog and see all the stunning creations by the super talented BG DT they are sure to inspire!

The Recipe

4 Different Types of Embellishments(You can have as many of each type as you wish, as long as there are 4 different kinds, for example Ribbon, Pearls, Flowers, Charms etc etc)
3 Different Patterned Papers
(You can have as many plain matting papers as you wish, just as long as there are 3 patterned papers)
1-2 Images and/or 1-2 Sentiments(You can choose to have up to 2 in either of these, or even both if you wish)

Photobucket

I decided to ink up this sweet Edwin! I totally neglect poor Edwin and he is a doll too! I really need to use him more. I love how he is clutching his we pressie! So, again I embossed the Magnolia tree with Northern Lights embossing powder and coloured Edwin with my Copics and cut him out. He is pop-dotted on the card. I made an easel card from Bassill cardstock and matted with some kraft cardstock and used 3 different sheets of BG Jovial 6x6 papers. I absolutely love this paper to bits. I stamped the stitching with my Kelly Panacci stamps and Distress ink. I added the No Peeking sentiment by Kelly Panacci on a QK tag. my 4 different embellies are a Jovial Brad, pearls, red velvet AC ribbon and Prima and WOC flowers. The sentiment on the bottom of the easel card is from the Magnolia Merry Little Christmas 2010 Collection.

Well, thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek at my card! I hope you can get crafty this weekend and join us at BasicGrey Challenges!

Cute Card Thursday # 140...You Light up My Life!

Photobucket

Hey crafty friends! Hope everyone is keeping well! Has the weather turned cold on you yet? Well, it is  starting to get really cold here. Winter is on its way I'm afraid and this year they are predicting a good old fashioned Canadian winter for us. I guess we are due, since last year we didn't have any snow to speak of. Well, I have an appointment to get the old snow tires put on the van on Saturday. So, I should be good and ready for the white stuff, smile!

Well, enough weather talk (a Canadian past time, smile) I have a card to share with you today! I made it for the challenge over at Cute Card Thursday! They have a really neat idea for the challenge....A Blast from the Past...so we are to pick one of the previous CCT challenges but not the free for all challenge. So, I have picked Challenge # 129, A Play on Words!

Photobucket

As I have said I am in serious Christmas card making mode, so, once again, I have made an easel card and used BG Jovial 6x6 papers! I used this adorable Magnolia stamp, Tilda in a Winter Night, from the Merry Little Christmas 2010 collection! I absolutely adore her and I loved colouring her with my Copcis. I cut her out with my rectangle Nesties using the "Out of the Box" technique and left the image in the die and inked with Pumice Stone and Black Soot Distress ink! I cute the Magnolia border die from MFT My Favorite Felt and I used this great sentiment, perfect for the Play on Word Challenge, from the MFT WTG, Winter in the City stamp set. I also used my Magnolia flourish die and cut it from some glittery cardstock and I cut MFT Die-namics snowflakes from the glitter cardstock too. I layered the snowflakes with the Prima and WOC roses. I added a few white half pearls here and there and some crushed black velvet ribbon....I love velvet with plaid...it's the perfect combo, me thinks. I also added Sakura Glaze pen to Tilda's lantern but it didn't show up in the pic.

Well, thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek at my card!

Hope you have a stampin' great day!

My Favorite Things...WSC Challenge...Make a Wish!

Photobucket

Hello crafty friends! I am back with another card to share that I made this evening to enter the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club challenge and I'm just getting it in under the wire. You also get a bit of a reprieve from Christmas cards, lol, as I needed to make a b-day card for a friend. I thought it was the perfect time to ink up one of my A La Mode stamps from MFT for the first time....and....I'm totally hooked on these sweeties!!!
Photobucket
So, the challenge this week is to be inspired by the song My Favorite Things from the movie The Sound of Music. Well, I was inspired by the line "....crisp apple strudels" now, I know this isn't exactly an apple strudel but it's a close as I am going to get to the yummy pastry, me thinks, smile!

So, I inked up, A La Mode Time to Celebrate with her rather large and delish looking cake, I added the candles that comes in the set and coloured her with my Copics. I cut the image out with my new Nesties and left the image in the die and inked with Pumice Stone Distress ink. I also made a thin mat by cutting around the outer edge of the die with my Fiskers Finger Grip craft knife. I need a new blade so don't look too closely, smile!  I made an easel card 5 3/8X6 and used BG Green at Heart and some AC cardstock and ribbon! I decided to cut these MFT Die-namics flowers and these Die-namics Flowers from My Favorite Felt in brown and cream from the Banana Split collection. I added BG Green at heart brads to the centres and added ribbon leaves. I also cut the Die-namics scalloped scallop border from the cream coloured My Favourite felt.  The sentiment Make a wish is from the WTG Birthday set and the bottom sentiment is from the Time to Celebrate set and stamped on the MFT Die-namics Framed Greetings Die and stamp set. To finish the card off I added a little Stickles to the candles and icing.

I had fun making this card tonight and it was nice to take a break from the Christmas cards.

Thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek at my card!

Friday Sketchers # 129....Tidings of Comfort and Joy!

Photobucket

Good morning crafty friends! Just a quick post this morning to share a card that I made with the beautiful sketch over at Friday Sketchers! I am in Christmas card mode...not sure how many I will get made! As always, I have left it to the last minute!

I really love how the silver embossed Christmas Tree turned out on my Spoon Full of Sugar card so I embossed a bunch of trees (mass production) with Northern Lights embossing powder and I am going to make my cards all along the same design. So, for this card I used this sweet Tilda that came in my StampClub kit and coloured her with my Copics and cut her out. I am making all my cards easel cards with BG Jovial. I added some AC ribbon and some Prima flowers with pearls! The sentiment "Tidings of Comfort and Joy" is from an acrylic stamp set that I got at Michaels.

Well, thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek at my card! I need to get back to my room  as I still have a bunch more to make....eeekkkk!

Hey crafty friends! Just a quick post to share two cards that I made with this adorable Penny Black Stamp, Royal Mail. I have just discovered Penny Black's sweet little Mimi stamps...totally love her to bits....she is soooooo cute! I made these cards to be displayed at Crop Circles in Peterborough. I used BoBunny Winter Joy collection also from Crop Circles....I just love this paper and these non-traditional colours are so pretty. Perfect with this sweet wintry scene of Mimi off to mail a card. I made these cards CAS...can you believe it....no flowers, pearls, bling...just one sparkly Winter Joy BoBunny brad and a little ribbon. I really like how they turned out.

Photobucket

I coloured Mimi with my Copics and I cut the images out with my Circle Nesties. I also used my Favourite Kelly Panacci Christmas sentiment stamps on these cards and my fave QuicKutz photocorner die and tag die...on the top card I added Stickles and on the bottom card I used Polar White Flowersoft...love that stuff.

Photobucket
Good morning crafty friends! I hope you're all having a great week so far! It is Wednesday my fave day as it is almost the weekend, lol! Here is my sketch....

Now, on a sad note, I have decided it is time to stepped down from the WOJ challenges DT and this challenge is my last DT Challenge but I am sure not my last WOJ challenge.  I have soooooo enjoyed my time on the WOJ Challenges team, with such a fabulous and talented group of ladies! So,  we are having a WOJC DT call to add to the team...so why not join in just add the letters DT after your name!
Photobucket
I have had this idea for this card for a while as I really wanted to use Business Willow with these Melissa Frances rub-ons. I thought this would be a great card for a friend who just landed the dream job or big promotion at work. So for my card, I pulled out my beloved Echo Park Life is Good pp and I stamped up Business Willow and coloured her with my Copics.

I made a crinkled seam binding bow with seam binding I dyed and crinkled myself. It was originally white Hug Snug seam binding but I spritzed it with water and Candy Apple Red Glimmer Mist (you might want to wear gloves unless you like having red fingers, smile). Then I crinkled it all up in a ball and squished it into the corner of a plastic sandwich bag, secured it with an elastic band and let it sit overnight. The next day, I took it out and let it air dry as it was still a bit damp and there you have it....crinkled seam binding...super easy! Really you only need to get white seam binding if you have a large selection of Glimmer Mist and you can dye your own in any colour. I also added a few Prima flowers and some half pearls here and there.

Here is the inside sentiment...

Thanks so much for stopping by and having a wee peek at my card! I hope you get some crafty time over the next two weeks and can join us at the WOJ Challenges....try my sketch and enter the DT call!

Have a stampin' great day!
