Sweet! Been thinkin' about my Valentine!

Trying to use my Silhouette more and I also want to improve my colouring technique on the Magnolia stamps. The Sweetheart Digital Design portfolio is "sweet", smile! The large heart is a layered design that is very cool and reminds me of KI memories lace paper. The pp is Scenic Route and I used my chatterbox Doodling Gennie and a startdust pen to add a few more glittery hearts to this valentines card. The sentiment stamp "true love" is a Studio G acrylic stamp from Michaels and the gliter stickers are MM.

A treat...Just for you!

Cut these cute purse bags on my Silhouette. Coloured the Magnolia stamps with the Magic coloured pencil technique, used QK flower dies and a little stickles. Added a few chocolates and gave these to the girls in my scrapbooking "pose" at our fall weekend scrapbooking retreat!

The Grand Canyon AKA The Big Ditch

I worked on this two page spread last weekend and this is one of those layouts that I agonized over. At first I wasn't sure I liked it but it is starting to grow on me. I wanted to remember our trip to Arizona, May '07 but I especially wanted to scrapbook the story of our trip to the Grand Canyon. The title is actually a partial quote from my "ungrateful" child, lol. She wasn't too happy with the long car ride and stated that she didn't think it was worth the 4 hour drive just to see a "big ditch"...too funny! Well, it was worth it and now she can check off the Grand Canyon, one of the great natural wonders of the world, on her "things to see, places to go" list.
I used new Basic Grey patterned paper, the yellow sheet is Basic Grey, Lillie Kate collection. I used a new matting technique on my large grouping of photos and the quote block. I cut my journaling into strips, it looks lighter that way. I rediscovered my Making Memories foam stamps and used spotlight white MM paint for the words "Canyon" and "Ditch" and cut them out. The small word stickers are from my stash of stickers. I cut up words to get the letters that I wanted to spell "grand" and "big". So, all in all, not too bad! Now, I will add this page to my 2007 year book "people, places and things we love!" and keep scrappin'!

Crop-lift it, It is okay!

This is a two page layout. The page design is lifted from Ali's book a Designer's Eye for Scrapbooking with patterned paper, page 22. I have come to terms with the fact that I am not good at coming up with my own page design. When I do it takes me hours and I just can't spend hours agonizing over my pages. So, crop-lifting and page sketches help me speed up the process and I am trying to heed Ali's words "it is okay!".

I am quite happy with how this page turned out. I wanted to do a single page layout and since I just love this pic of my dd, it was the perfect focal point for the page. Most of the product used on this page is from an Ali Edwards kit from Cocoa Daisy...just loved all the papers and product she assembled in this kit. ( I think I might just have to order another kit from Cocooa Daisy, lol. I really loved that everything already coordinated. It made the process much faster!) It is hard to see in this image but I used glassy accents on the flower centres and the "h". Title is a quote by Maya Angelou. I found it in the "soup" on 2 peas and cut it out on my QK Silhouette, flowers, swirls, and photo corner are QK 2x2 dies.
