CCT# 44 & SS # 35.....Miss You!!!

WOW!!! I'm on a roll this weekend, lol! Back with a card this time! I have combined two challenges...CCT # 44 "Create a Scene" and Sketch Saturday # 35, a fabulous sketch!!!

I pulled out my new 6X6 Making Memories paper pad called Chloe's Closet that I got at Micheals last week with a 40% off coupon! I love this paper and I love a deal, lol!!!! I made the cardbase 6x6 from Orange Bazzill Bling and matted the pp on some blue Bazzill Bling.

I stamped Tilda on Georgia Pacific paper with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I masked Tilda and then stamped the cloud, then masked the one cloud and stamped another one. I coloured the image with my Copics, of course. Speaking of Copics, I have some exciting news. I will be attending the Copic Certification class that is being held in Brampton on March 24/09. I am so excited and I am also looking forward to it cuz I'll get to hang with my bloggin' bud, Kim, from Kraftin' Kimmie's Korner! So, I think it will be a fabulous day and great opportunity to learn more about my fave Copic markers!!!

So, back to the card....I used my Sakura Glaze Pen to add a wet look to the leaf, rain drops, Tilda's boots and ground! I also, used a Stardust pen on Tilda's wings and some Stickles here and there for a little glitter!

I added a few Prima flowers and MM Chloe's Closet co-ordinating brads. The yellow stitched velvet ribbon was another bargain from Micheals. I cut the market tag (love this die but don't use it that often) out of some white Core'Dinations cardstock and stamped the MFT sentiment with black Staz-on ink!

Well, there you have it! I have a few more card ideas but not sure if I will get to them this afternoon or not!!!! The kids want to go to Chris' hockey game tonight. We haven't gone in a long time as his games tend to be so late at night but he plays at 7:00, so, we will go and cheer his team on!!!

This post is a bit of a mish-mash of things that I have been meaning to post and just hadn't gotten to it! So here we go!!!!

My Dad sent me an e-mail the other day with these pics of a rare sighting of an all white moose taken in Northern Ontario near Timmins.


I just thought I would share this with you, as, I could not believe my eyes when I saw these pics!

At first, I thought some one had made a "snow moose" and then I realized that it's a real all-white moose, very cool (no pun intended,lol)!

Okay...so the 10 HONEST things about me are:

1. I am a little bit of a high maintenance girl (just ask my hubby)...yeah, I know that is like saying your are a little bit pregnant,lol!!!!

2. I have determined that people fall into two categories either you love turtle neck sweaters or you hate them....I love them! As soon as the cool weather comes I pull out my considerable collection of turtle necks!!! (I am wearing one right now, he he, he!!!)

3. When I find something I like I buy one in every colour....turtle necks, shoes (like my Viking sandals), fleece sweaters etc. etc.

4. I don't/can't cook! good thing my hubby can or we would be eating chicken strips every night of the week and that would be ok with me...love them!

5. I am not a very adventuresome eater...hence the chicken strips!

6. when I was in high school I was a heavy metal rocker chick,lol!!!

7. I love my Tim Horton's Coffee...totally addicted!

8. My wallet is a total disgrace. It is a rather large wallet yet it is bursting at the seams with receipts, notes and lists spilling out of it...my good friend ,before she had kids of her own, called it a "mom wallet"! It has everything it but the kitchen sink!

9. I am a worrier and do that "worse case scenario" thing, where, I'm always thinking about what could go wrong or all the potential hazards or down falls of any given decision.

10. I am not much of a window shopper. I prefer to go shopping when I have something specific in mind! Except when it come to shopping for scrapbooking/stamping/crafting supplies!!!

So, not so sure that was at all interesting but I tried to dig deep,lol!!!!

Now these 7 bloggers can give it a go if they so choose......Kim, Chris, Nicole, Michele, Moni, Tab, & Tara!!!

Ok, I feel better now that I have finally gotten this done, phew!!! My dear hubby is making breakfast and the bacon smells yum-o, so, I think I will eat and then head down to my wee craft nook!

WOJ Challenge # 15...Vixen, Comet, Cupid...!!!

Today while blog hopping I saw the most beautiful card by my friend, Michele! She was following along with challenge # 15, a sketch, on the WOJ challenges blog! Well, I went right over to WOJ Challenges and printed Katharina's fabulous sketch and got to work!

I knew exactly what I wanted to do, as, I have been mulling over this idea for a week or so! I bought this fab Hero Art sentiment stamp at a boxing day sale and thought it would be great for next years Christmas cards. Then I thought maybe...just maybe...I could get some use out of it before then!

Now, the fact that this is a little twist on a Valentine's day card was totally lost on my dear hubby! Now, he's got me a little unsure about this card and if I pulled it off or not! what do ya think!?


I cut a 6x6 cardbase from a sheet of Pomegranate Bazzill cardstock and used a sheet of Cherry Cordial from my 6x6 BG Bittersweet pad. I matted it on Bazzill cardstock in, Dusk. I cut the scalloped border in Dusk using my SU slot punch.

I stamped the image of Charlotte and "Cupid" on Georgia Pacific paper with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and coloured it in with my Copic markers and twinkling H2Os. I cut and embossed the image with my circle Nesties. Then, sponged around the edges of the image with Metallic rub-ons.

Following the sketch, I used the wide grey grosgrain ribbon from American Craft and this great fancy marrowed edge ribbon that I picked up at Crop Circles in Peterborough, one day when I was working up there. I don't have the name of it, as, I bought it off the bolt, but I just love it!!! I got some in orange too! The Hero Art sentiment is stamped on Crushed Berry and then I circled "Cupid". I then cut it into the tag and inked the edges. Finally I added a few Prima flowers with some BG Bittersweet brads and some crystal Stickles.

BasicGrey Challenges # 19.....Home is where...!

Well, I can honestly say I am not at all domestic, lol!!!! Cooking is not my strong suit! Nope, I'm no Betty Crocker and Martha, has nothing to worry about from this girl, that is for sure!!! Although, I might not like to actually cook, I do love to watch my cooking shows and I am totally keen on learning all the fun culinary terminology. Oh, I can tell you how to chiffonade some Basil, or what a mother sauce is...but don't ask me to actually do it or make one, lol!!!! One thing that is very important in cooking up something YUM-O is following a recipe! Well, the only kind of recipe that I'm interested in following is a crafty one, smile!!!

So, I was ready to dig in when I saw that this week's challenge over at the BasicGrey Challenges blog is to.......

"...... follow a recipe, you can of course add more embellishments etc to your creations but please make sure to use all of the ingredients in the recipe on your creations, and of course not forgetting to use at least one item from BasicGrey"

Ingredients:

2 Patterned papers

1 Ribbon and Bow

3 Brads

So, I pulled out my BasicGrey Bittersweet paper and picked Mousse (just love all the sweet little hearts) and Praline (I'm all over these YUM-O stripes) from the 6x6 pad. So, I thought I would team it up with this adorable Magnolia house image to make a sweet card for my friend who moved into a new house several months ago. I think she has had some time to unpack and start to make her, new house, home!!! I'm just so happy for her!!!

I made the card base 6X6 with Bazzill cardstock and inked the edges of it and the edges of the pp. I stamped the Magnolia image on Georgia Pacific paper with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and coloured it with my Copics and Twinkling H2Os, then cut it out and adhered it with pop-dots.

I cut a scrap of Bazzill cardstock with the QK 4X4 border die and used the scalloped edge, which, I embossed with the QK Heart Goosebumpz die and added a little Metallic rub-ons.

The sentiment is a Melissa Frances rub-on. I applied it to another scrap of Bazzill cardstock (I think it is called pomegranate) and I cut the folk heart from Bazzill Bling (String of Pearls) cardstock with a QK 2x2 die and added the button and tied a bow with string. Finally, I added the 3 brads from BG Wassail collection, the American Craft ribbon and a dash of Stickles!

I am quite happy with how this card turned out and love the country feel! I just love this little house too. Now, maybe if I lived in a cute pink Magnolia house, I would be a domestic goddess....ummm...doubt it, eh!? Me too, lol!!!

Patch Tilda says...Make a wish & Happy Birthday to you!!!

It is pretty darn tootin' cold out there today!!! We got a ton more snow last night!! Oh, my goodness, we are running out of places to put it!!! My poor hubby, Chirs, had to get up at 6:00 am to go to work. I was very glad to be able to stay in bed, all snuggled up, in my warm duvet for little bit longer,smile!!!

well, I have two cards to share with you this morning that remind me of spring!!! I used this gorgeous Daisy Bucket Designs paper that I have had in my stash for a while now! I just loved how my Sealed with a Kiss card turned out and so I pulled out this yum-o paper when I realized I had two special b-day cards to make!

The first card I made for a friend at work and the second card is for my sweet, BG DT buddy, Jo! (It's safe to show them to ya now as both ladies have already received their cards.)

The card base is 5 1/2 X 5 1/2 made with white Bazzill Swiss Dots cardstock. I stamped the images of Patch Tilda on Georgia Pacific paper with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and coloured them with my Copic markers!

Well, I was very happy with how these cards turned and it was a lot of fun making them!!!

Friday Sketchers #35....Best Friends...Forever!!!

I always love Mumur's sketches (and her beautiful cards too), over at the Friday Sketchers Challenge blog, well, she has come up with another fabulous design! I just had sooo much fun making my card with this sketch! Thanks for such great inspiration Murielle and for getting my creative juices flowing!

Well, I think I enjoyed making this card so much cuz it was a messy one,lol! Yup, lots of paint, inking and Metallic rub-ons...oh yeah, I got good and inky, making this one,he, he, he!!! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out but the lighting in the pics isn't very good...I think it looks better IRL!!!

I had this double-sided Scenic Route Sonoma paper in my stash. Just three sheets of it, as, it came in a make-n-take from the Scrapbooking Retreat that I went to back in November! Well, I love Scenic Route paper, so, I've been saving it for that special moment. Well, that special moment was for this little cutie patootie...gosh, I just love her hair...(I use to have my hair cut like this)...cute!!!

Anyways, back to the card, smile! I used the Red Bouquet Kraft sheet, that has the large floral print on it, as the 6X6 cardbase. I stamped sweet Tilda here on Georgia Pacific cardstock and coloured her with my Copics. I used white Acrylic paint and the ball of a small embossing tool for the dots on her cheeks and a fine tip brush for the other highlights. I distressed around the edges with my favourite, Metallic Rub-ons.

The chipboard postage stamp frame, flowers and swirls are from Technique Tuesday and called FUNdamentals Technique Tiles! I painted the postage stamp frame with MM acrylic paint and a foam brush and when dry I rubbed on lots of Metallic Rub-ons, again. The flowers and swirls are covered with various colours of chalk inks and more Metallic Rub-ons.

I punched a hole in the middle of them with my Cropadile to insert the BG Wassail brads. I added some Black grosgrain American Kraft ribbon and used a really great tip that I saw on Jennifer McGuire Ink. on how to tie a good knot or bow (you will have to watch or fastforward to the middle of the video to see the part where she shares the bow tying tip). Maybe you already know about this idea. I just think it is a fab way to get a great knot or bow and to keep the ribbon, twine or cord taught while you tie it!

The Mellisa Frances transfer was cut up and half was applied to the tag cut with my QK squeeze and the word "Forever" was applied to the stamped image.

BG # 18 Digi Image by Kim.....Be Mine!!!!

It is time for another fantastic challenge at the BasicGrey Challenges blog! One of our outstanding designers, Kim~Paperbabe, has drawn several fabulous digi images and the challenge this week is to use one or all of the digi images on your card, of course, you must also include one or more BG product on your creation too!!!

Well, I finally got my little paws on the new BG Bittersweet 6X6 paper pad! I must have drove my friend, Charlene, at The Scrapbook Academy, crazy, hounding her for this stuff!!! Yep, I think I have a wee problem when it comes to all things BG,lol!!! Well, I have just fallen in love with this gorgeous paper! So, I need to head back to The Scrapbook Academy and get some brads, 12X12 sheets and maybe another 6X6 pad of this yum-o paper!!!! Love it!!!

Well, I also loved using Kim's fabulous digi image this week! This little Valentine girl is soooo sweet and soooo in love, ah! I printed the image on Georgia Pacific cardstock. I have an ink jet printer and the ink is compatible with Copic markers. How cool is that!? So, I used my Copics to colour the image but with a little twist!

I came across a new technique using Copcis markers on Marianne's blog, I like Markers when I read it, I knew I just had to try! Marianne, explains on her blog how you can fill a waterbrush with Colourless Blender fluid. Then scribble some of the colour from your Copic marker on an acrylic block and pick up the colour with the water brush (filled with blender fluid) to achieve a watercolour effect. This is a really fabulous technique and I know I will be using it again and taking some time to improve on my technique.

I was also, inspired by the beautiful water colouring styling of my fellow BG DT member, Chris! After watching her fabulous video tutorial several times, I thought, I would give it a go! This is my very first attempt and I've not come anywhere close to what Chris is able to achieve with this "loose" watercolouring affect but I do love the look of it! So, I finished the image off with some white highlights using acrylic paint and a fine tip brush and added some Crystal Stickles for a little sparkle!
