Friday Sketchers #6 is Heaven Sent & News from Cloud 9!!!

WOW! All of the DT members at Friday Sketchers keep pumpin' out awesome sketches. I can't believe how quickly this card came together yesterday afternoon, a true sign of a fabulous sketch, smile! Thanks, Jacqueline, it was great fun to work with your sketch!!!
I decided I would use this little Tingla stamp as I haven't made a card with her yet and I thought I would use up the scraps of Fancy Pants paper that I used to make a mini-album with last weekend (love,love,love this paper)! As I was getting my "mise en place" before getting inky, smile. I had another one of those light bulb moments and went back to my stamp binder to grab my Magnolia cloud stamp. I stamped Tingla on the blue cloud-like side of the FP Confetti pp and (I made a mask but my dh pointed out later that I probably didn't have to, oh well.) then I stamped the cloud upside-down for her to lie on. I stamped two more clouds off the edge of the pp to look as if they were floating by in the background. I ran it through the Cuttlebug with my circle Nestibilites die and added some crystal Stickles. I stamped Tingla again on Georgia Pacific White Cardstock with Archival Brilliance Graphite black ink and coloured it with my Copic markers, added crystal Stickles to her wings and let it dry before I cut it out. Then I adhered it with some pop-dots on to the stamped image on the blue pp.
The card base is 6x6 and is cut from a piece of Bazzill Basics Orange Bling Cardstock. I inked all the edges of the pp and adhered them to the card. I used the small scalloped circle Nestibilites to cut a mat for the main image out of the "wheat" coloured side of the Jubilate pp. Finally, I stamped the sentiment from the Kelly Panacci Baby clear stamp set with brown Staz-On ink on a tag from the FP die-cut sheet, inked the edges, added a MM gemstone brad and some pink American Craft ribbon before attaching the main image of Tingla to the card.

So, I have some exciting news to share, grin!!! Do ya wanna know what it is??? Well, I am absolutely on cloud 9, smile!!! Cuz I have been chosen to be on the DT for my LSS, The Scrapbook Academy, YAY!!! When I went to the store yesterday, Jackie, gave me my first DT kit....oh, sooooo exciting!!! I can't wait to make my very first DT assignment...eeekkk!

Friday Sketchers #5...Rainbows and Butterflies!!!

Well, I know this card is way past due for the Friday Sketchers challenge # 5 but I have had a crazy busy week, no worries, I won't bore you with the details, smile! I worked on this card over the course of the week when I had a bit of time here and there. I thought I might get it in just under the wire, but no such luck. Oh well, here it is anyways. I must say this sketch by Kimmie just rocks!!! I will definitely be using it again!

So, have ya noticed I love my music and love adding songs to my blog that "co-ordinate" with the theme of the card or the theme of my post. I love to rock out when I am in my scrapbooking room and I also, really like using the lyrics from my favourite songs as the sentiment on a card or for the title of a scrapbooking page...music is such great inspiration for me! Well, for this card I used part of a line from the song "She Will be Loved" by Maroon 5 (one of my favourite bands and I just love Adam Levine. He is such a hottie,lol!!) Whenever I hear this song I am really struck by this line "It's not always rainbows and butterflies...it's compromise that moves us along". whoa, isn't that the truth!

Another one of my favourite things is collecting fonts. One font that caught my eye recently is called "Dear Joe Four". You may have seen it yourself at your LSS, It is used on some of the new Prima packaging. I searched for it on the many free font sites available on the net and found it (or one that is pretty darn close to it) on dafont.com. I think this font is also very close to the font used in the MFT set By the Sea Shore. The only down side is the free version available on dafont doesn't come with punctuation.
So, for this card I used a piece of the Core'Dinations Cardstock for the 6X6 base and distressed the edges. The pp is from the Prima Marketing 5X7 paper stack, Sasha Collection. I stamped the main image of Tilda Med Maskros (one of my very first Magnolia stamps and one of my all time favourites too) on Georgia Pacific White Cardstock with Archival Brilliance Graphite Black ink and coloured it with Copic markers. Then I matted it on a peice of orange Core'Dinations cardstock that I distressed the edges of with the Tim Holts Tonic Distressing tool. I added a few of my new Prima flowers that I picked up at Micheals and blinged them up with some crystal Stickles and MM gemstone brads. I added the crystal Stickles to Tilda's wings and used a yellow Sakura stardust Gelly Roll pen to add some sparkle to the dandelion. I printed the the lyric from the song on a strip of velum and adhered it to the card with some transparent double-sided squares.

Tell Me,Me Oh,Me Oh My, Wasn't that Party!!!

There is a good reason why I am signing this little ditty this morning...could've been the three, four, six, Smirnoff Ice, lol!!!

Well, My bestest friend in the whole wide world, Donna, threw a big birthday bash to celebrate her 50th birthday with friends and family last night! Wow...wasn't that a party...and I am afraid to say that my head does feel a little like a football right now, lol!!!!! What a blast though!!!! It doesn't get any better than that...good friends, family, yummy food/cake dancin', singin' and oh, imbibin' (just a little) all night long, lol!!!!

So, just when I was packing all my scapbooking supplies Friday night to go to a weekend crop, I had a light bulb moment, and decided to make a memento for Donna, to remember her rockin' birthday bash! So, I made her this mini-album and took pics last night that I will print and add for her. She loved it (and her Timmy's gift card), yay!!! And I have to say I am thrilled with how the album turned out too. I have made it before as an "All about me" mini-album and even taught it as a quick class....lots of fun! It is a great gift idea, very easy to make and has a lot of impact as there are lots of little flaps to open. The directions are from TVWeekly Scrapbook Lounge and you can download them here. I have taken a lot of pics of it, bare with me, but I wanted you too see all the pages. I hope you like it and maybe even give it a try. Let me know if you do! Oh, and I can't forget about the pocket card that I made too from the fabulous tutorial/directions on Claudia Rosa's blog, Pretty Pressings.

I used Fancy Pants Celebrate collection 12x12 double-sided patterned papers, co-ordinating rub-ons and the titles and tags die cut sheet. I also used Melissa Frances new Celebration and various other, of her fabulous, rub-ons. I cut the rub-ons up and rearranged them to say what I want. I also, put my QK to work on this little album using tags, and various other dies to embellish the pages.

It might be a little hard to see from the pics but this album has many pages that open and fold out with little side flaps that open to reveal more pics and embellishments. Check it out on the Scrapbook Lounge and you will be able to see it better in the video.

Here is an example of how I cut up my rub-ons and use them to suit my needs. The black Mellisa Frances rub-on originally said happy holidays and I cut the "holi" part out and cut of the "s" and layered the reaming "happy day" over the word happy on the die cut.

I'm quite happy with how this neat little idea turned out. I butted two pieces of pp together taped them on the back and then applied the ice cream cone rub-on on top. The beige pp on the bottom looks like the cone and the top is some yummy lime green colour, then I cut it out. I covered the ice cream with my new clear glaze pens and used red stardust glitter pen to colour in the cherry.

So, When I feel a little better...later this afternoon, (let's keep our fingers crossed)! I will run up to Wal-Mart and print the pics from last night, to add to the album. Clearly, a great weekend and a great FS sketch too!

Wow, What a busy but fun filled weekend I have had! Yesterday, I taught another clear acrylic album class at The Scrapbook Academy...what a blast and what a great group of ladies! Clearly, they all deserve an A+++ as everyone made such fabulous albums,smile! I was so inspired to make another album by their creativity and I just might make a few other acrylic projects well I'm at it! I couldn't believe just how many of us were huge Disney fans too! Many of the ladies were even making Disney themed acrylic albums. I think I might just have to do the same! We also shared lots of great tips about WDW! Then, when I got home Chris and I looked at the pics on our Disney Photopass and discussed our next trip to the happiest place on earth...can't wait! To top it all off, Chris and I went and saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (a Disney movie). You see, we were sans kids last night...both kids had sleepovers,whoohoo!!!

So, When I was at the Scrapbook Academy yesterday I picked up the new MFT sets, Friends Furever and Gone to the Dogs. I decided to use the Friends Furever set for Sketch #4 at Friday Sketchers. I stamped it with Archival Brilliance Black Graphite ink on Georgia Pacific paper and coloured it with Copic markers and inked the edges. The card base is 6X6 and cut from Bazzill Basics card stock, watermelon. The pp is from a 5X7 Prima pad from the Breathe collection that I picked up at Micheals. I really like the patterns and the colours, it is just too bad, they didn't have it in square, 6X6 or 8X8 pads, though. I used Technique Tuesday Postage stamp FUNdementals as a guide to make the border and inked all the edges of the pp. The sentiment is stamped on two QK ribbon slider 2X2 die cut from the pp and I added some American Craft ribbon. I also, cut four photo corners with a QK 2x2 die and added them to the stamped image. Then, I stamped the inside sentiment on the dog bone tag stamp, cut it out, added a heart brad and pop-dotted it.

Well, I gotta take a quick trip to the grocery store and pick up some things to make lunches with for tomorrow. I guess all this fun had to come to end sometime, lol! Thanks for stopping by! have a great Sunday afternoon!

Hip Hip Horray for Friday Sketchers!!!

Well, I was just a itchin' to get into my scrapbooking room and get inky, in spite of the fact, that my dinning room floor was covered in piles of dirty clothes from our recent trip. As well as, luggage, souvenirs and other vacation paraphernalia spewing from our suitcases. Chris and I have been trying to put a dent in the laundry now for the last few days but it has been a slow painful process. I had to laugh though, when I told him I was going to be busy making a card and couldn't keep an eye on the washer. He said and I quote "what for?" Obviously, he doesn't get it! Who needs a reason to make a card, lol! Next time he says he is going golfing I will be sure to ask "what for?"!

So, when I finally got ready to work on a card for the Friday Sketchers challenge I just wasn't feelin' it! I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me because Carole's sketch was absolutely fabulous, I had a new 6X6 pad of yummy BG Sultry pp and my new Georgia Pacific paper that I bought at Wal-mart in FLA. But there was still something missing....no mojo, no spark, no passion! So, it goes without saying, that I am not lovin' how this card turned out, not at all! It just feels like something isn't right with it but I can't put my finger on it! Kinda like how I am feeling. Maybe I have the post-vacation blues! Oh Well, I hope this creative slump doesn't last too long.

So, for this card I used Watermelon Bazzill cardstock for the base and the pp is BG sultry 6X6 pad. I used a Magnolia stamp called Jumping Tilda. I stamped it on Georgia Pacific paper with Archival Brilliance Black Graphite ink and coloured it in with Copic markers. I really like the Georgia Pacific paper. The Copics work really well on it and I think because it is a little thicker (110 lbs) than the Wausau paper (65 lbs) the ink soaks in more and doesn't migrate nearly as much, that is very cool! My only complaint is that it isn't as white as the Bright White Wausau paper. I added some glitter to her wings with a Sakura stardust glitter pen and stamped the strip of green pp with the circles stamp from the MFT Let's go for a walk set with a VersaMagic Spanish Olive ink. I embellished with a few prima flowers and a few clear Bella's Baubbles. The sentiment is a Studio G stamp that I stamped with brown staz-on ink on the tag. Tag is a QK 2x2 die.

So, I thought I would also share a card that is a little different from the usual cards that I make. I needed to make a birthday card this morning for a little boy turning seven. It was a good opportunity to use up some stickers and pp that I have had for a long time. The only stamping on this card is the sentiment.



I whipped up this card as Kieran was getting ready for the party. Chris had picked up a hot wheels gift bag at the dollar store and it made me think of the Sandylion Hot wheels stickers that I have been hording forever. I thought this card would be a little more appropriate for a boy turning seven. Somehow, I doubt he would have appreciated a Magnolia stamp card,lol!

So, for this card I used Basic Yellow Bazzill cardstock and Creative Imaginations pp with Flames on it and the word Danger. I cut a strip of the Hot Wheels boarder sticker to fit the card face and I cut the word "Danger"out of the pp. I positioned it slightly under the Sticker of the Monster truck and adhered both and added the screw brads to the word. I stamped happy B day with black staz-on ink.

All I want to do wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wooo is stamp!!!

Hey! I am back!!! It is soooooo great to be home! We had a blast in FLA! We played hard and are exhausted after spending 6 day going to the 4 WDW parks and 1 day at, Aquatica, the new water park at SeaWorld,what a hoot!!! we had two down days for the kids and I. We slept in while Chris decided to get up at 6:00 am to golf, (extreme eye roll)! When he got back we just lounged by the pool and gave are feet a well deserved break. Woohee, my puppies were hurtin',lol! The weather was gorgeous and hot we had maybe only 30 mins of rain for the whole 10 days. It would rain for like 10 mins and then the sun would shine! It suited us fine but I felt bad for the Floridians they really need it to rain! It is very dry and there are many brush fires. So, I hope it rains soon for them, as, It was very sad to see the damage caused by the fires on the late news every night.

Well, I don't have any cards or scrapbook pages to share as of yet but I still wanted to say Hi and tell you a bit about our holiday! See my new pic with Snow white,smile! Love it! We had dinner at Cinderella's Table and I met Snow White and got my pic, YAY! Hannah was very excited to see all her favourite princesses and Kieran enjoyed it too! The food was very good, one of the best meals we had there. We had a condo with a kitchen so we bought groceries and packed lunches and cooked our own food for the most part. We did have two special dinners that Chris booked for us one at Epoct's Coral Reef and at one Magic Kingdom, Cinderella's Table.

Animal Kingdom closes early, at 7:00. So, we had an early night and it was a nice break! I watched the Country music awards and so loved the song "All I want to do" by Sugerland. It is fantastic! So,I added it to my play list here on my blog. I use to be into new country, but not so much anymore but I really like this song! Well, All I want to do wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wooo is stamp, scrapbook, play, create!!! I can't wait to get sometime this weekend to make something. Unfortunately, I didn't get to any scrapbooking stores but I bought some Georgia Pacific white paper to stamp on. I want to see how it is with the copic markers. I know many people use it and I can't get it here in Ontario, so I decided to pick up a few packages. It is so inexpensive around 6 dollars for 150 sheets. So, I think 450 sheets will last me a while,lol!

Too cute....I just couldn't stop myself!!!

I know, I know....I said that I probably wouldn't get a chance to post anything until I got back from Disney world. Well, I got a lot accomplished yesterday and I had a little time last night (late last night and into the very early morning, he, he, he) to make two baby cards for my friends from work and two more just to have on hand....once I started I couldn't stop, lol! WOW!!!...I had a blast making these cards, Alvin and Tingla are just so darling!

I am trying out a new way of listing all the product used on my cards. I got the idea from Michele Boyer's blog Paper Cuts. She is a very talented card designer and is on the DT for one of my favourite stamp Co. MFT, among many others. I thought it would be quicker, less wordy and convoluted but I am undecided. Leave a comment and let me know what you think! Also, I would like to enlist the help of any computer savvy blogger/stampers out there. I can't figure out for the life of me, why, when I copy and paste the HTML code from MyLiveSignature, my signature appears with a box around it....so strange! If you know how I can fix this send me an e-mail or leave a comment....much appreciated!
