I also, have very exciting news to share with you all!!! It all happened rather quickly and I am still in shock, frankly!!! (someone pinch me, lol!) I received a very sweet e-mail from, Jo, who is on the BG Challenges DT and I mentioned that I would be very interested in being a guest designer for the BasicGrey Challenges blog, if they ever needed someone. She said she would pass the message on to Martine. Well, I could not believe it when Martine e-mailed me and asked if I would be interested in being a guest designer. I was totally freaking out!!! So, I will be the guest designer for the month of January!!! What a fabulous way to start the new year!!! I am just so ecstatic!!! Thanks so much Martine for this wonderful opportunity and thanks Jo for putting in a good word for me, smile!!!
So, I really wanted to play along with the BasicGrey challenges this week cuz I just got my beloved Wassail 6X6 pp pack and the theme this week is Christmas...perfect!!! Then I went and checked out the FS Sketch. At first, I have to admit, I was a wee bit nervous about the big triangle, but it's suppose to be a CHALLENGE, right!? So, I took it head on!!! Well, I really love this sketch now and want to thank Jacqueline for coming up with a very unique layout and for giving me a real challenge this week!!!
I made the card base 6X6 from craft cardstock and inked the edges. I then inked all the edges of the pp too. Then it came time to figure out the triangle. I had to enlist the help of my dh for this because math and figuring this kind of thing out is not my strong suit. I ended up drawing my cut lines on the back of the paper. So, my layout was flipped from the original sketch but I think it still looks okay though!
I stamped Christmas Tilda on Georgia Pacific paper with Rich Cocoa Memento ink and coloured it with my Copic markers. I used White acrylic paint to add the highlights and add Crystal stickles to her for some extra bling!
I cut the oval and scalloped oval on my QK Silhouette and then inked the edges. I stamped the Magnolia Snowflakes background stamp on the oval with VersaMark ink and embossed it with Silver embossing powder. I had some static causing me problems, so, it didn't emboss properly but I still like it as it looks very distressed and not to shinny.
Then I added the American Craft ribbon that I just love and some gorgeous flowers sent to me by friend Tara, Happily Ever Crafting (thanks Tara for the wonderful goodies...just love them all). The colours were a perfect match for this paper and I mixed them with some Prima flowers that I bought a Micheals. I added a little extra glitter with some Burgundy Stickles. I used the pearls for the centres of the flowers and on the nameplate.
Well, I really like this card...it is basically the prototype for my Christmas cards this year! I will be using all these products to make them but I think I will probably choose an easier layout for mass production.
I'm going to a scrapbooking retreat at The Fern Resort, in two weeks with my scrapbooking posse! Guess what I will be doing? yup! Making Christmas cards, eating, and having a great time with the best of friends...can't wait!!!! (If you are going to the retreat at Fern...let me know!)
Well, Thanks for stopping by and having a wee look-see and for sharing in my exciting news!
Later!
