Basic Grey Challenge # 24...Pockets...Puppy Hugs Just For You!!!!
Well, we are back with another fab challenge for you this week from the Basic Grey Challenges blog! I hope that you can play along with us!
For this week's challenge we would like to see you use pockets in your creation, interpret this how you would like, but of course not to forget to use at least one item from BasicGrey somewhere on your creation :)
(Please remember to follow the rules along the left hand side before taking part in this challenge, thank you)
So, I have to admit that when I saw this challenge, I had to put my thinking cap on and mull it over a bit! I knew I was going to use this darling new Magnolia stamp, Tilda with puppy! She is a doll and the puppy is adorable! But what was I going to do for a pocket!? Well, I finally, decided to cut a mini envelope on my QK Silhouette and then stuff it full of "puppy hugs",lol!
Well, I actually stamped several Magnolia heart on different BG Mellow papers, to represent the puppy hugs! I cut them out, inked the edges and stuffed them in the mini envelope. I was inspired to make a card with a "country" feel when I saw this fab brown gingham American Craft ribbon in my stash! I thought it would look great with the BG Mellow papers!!! To carry on with the country/homey feel of this card I stamped some stitching with my Kelly Panacci Stitching stamps around the edges of the paper.
Tilda is stamped on Georgia Pacific paper and coloured with Copics and Twinkling H20s! I cut her out and pop-dotted her on the ribbon! I added a few Prima flowers and lots of Stickles here and there for some extra sparkle!
For the inside I cut another mini envelope and the card on my my Silhouette and added the Studio G sentiment inside the mini card!
Well, I can't wait to see what you all come up with! Make sure you check out all the other BG DT cards they are really fabulous and you are sure to be inspired!!!!

WOJ Guest Designer Call...You're the Best!!!!
This is a quick post tonight to submit a second card for the WOJ Guest Design Team call that is posted on the WOJ Challenge blog!!! Check out all the details here!!!
I have discovered this fabulous Pink Paislee paper and just can't get enough of it! So, I had to make another stop at Crop Circles in Peterborough when I was there the other day and picked up a few sheets of this collection, called, Vintage Moon! Isn't it pretty?! I thought it would look fabulous with this sweet new WOJ image, Willow with Flower Basket!
I also cut the tag, flourishes and flowers on my Silhouette! The fancy label and all the other shapes are QK digital designs that you can purchase from QK if you have a Silhouette! For the outside and inside sentiment I used my Kelly Panacci stamps!

I used my Qk Silhouette to cut this fancy label out of some Georgia Pacific paper and cut the black mat out of Prism cardstock! I stamped Willow with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her with Copics and Twinkling H2Os. I sponged my fave Metallic Rub-ons around the image and all over the card and did a lot of inking on all the edges of the paper. I also, added some Stickles to the image for a little extra sparkle!!!!
I used my new EK Success border punch that I got at Micheals! I just love it and it is one of the easiest border punches I've used! I have struggled getting border punches to line up properly but this punch was a dream to use...love'em! I used two of the punch outs as little photo corner accents and I really love how that looks!

So, there you go...my second card for the WOJ GDT call! I'm keeping "everything" crossed...fingers, toes, you name it,lol....I would be soooooo psyched if I could be the GDT for WOJ!!!
Thanks for stopping by and having a wee look!

WOJ Guest Designer Call...Sweet Friends!!!!
I was so thrilled to get my WOJ Spring stamp Kit this week! Ya know the one that I won, YAY!!! I'm still so excited about that cuz I never win anything, lol!!!! Not anything this fabulous!!!! They are all so darling...love 'em!!! So, I went to check out the WOJ Challenges blog to see what they had in store for this week's challenge and was super excited to see Katharina's fabulous sketch and that there is a GDT call on, be sure to go check out all the details!!!!
Well, I knew I wanted to give it another go and I knew exactly what I was going to do with this sketch too, as, I picked up this new gorgeous Pink Paislee paper at Crop Circles in Peterborough! I'm soooooo loving this paper it is the Pop Fashion Collection by Holly McCaig! The colours are an interesting combination of periwinkle blue, pink and olive green but surprisingly are really beautiful together and I just love the tartan patterned paper called Bermuda Shorts, cute name, eh!?
I made a card base 6x6 from pink Bazzill Basics paper and matted the patterned paper panels on some scraps of gorgeous periwinkle blue Prism Carstock. Then, I used my new Martha Stewart Embossed Flowers border punch that I thought would go nicely with the Martha Stewart Hydrangea flower punches that I used as layers over some pretty Prima pansies and Imaginisce sheer flowers.
I decided to use Kneeling Willow from the Spring Kit for the main image and I stamped her on Georgia Pacific cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I coloured her with my Copic markers and Twinkling H2Os and used white acrylic paint for the highlights! I cut the image with my curvy rectangle Nesties, sponged the edges with my fave Metallic Rub-ons and added Diamond Stickles!
I rubbed the antique gold Metallic rub-ons on the edges of the card and all over, here and there, to give it a bit of a distressed look and a little shine too and to finish it off I used some new satin ribbon that I got on sale at Micheals this week and the sentiments are Kelly Panacci stamps!
Well, there you have! I will keep my fingers crossed and my toes too, lol! I would soooooooo love to be the GDT for WOJ!!!
Thanks for stopping by and having a wee look!

BasicGrey Challenge #23.....Sing, Dance, Love and eat CUPCAKES.
Sweet! Time for another BasicGrey Challenge! This week we have a colour challenge for you and all the DT creations will be featuring fabulous printable stamps and sentiments from The Cutting Cafe's yummy "All about Cupcakes" set!
For the colour challenge you have the option of using one of these 3 yum-o colour combos on your creation and remember to read the BG Challenges rules and use at least one BasicGrey product on your creation too!

- Pink and Green
- Pink and Brown
- Blue and Brown
I had a birthday card to make for a dear friend, so, I thought the sweet cupcake image and sentiments from The Cutting Cafe would be the perfect focal for this card along with Tilda, of course!
I picked the Blue and Brown colour combo for this card. I cut a 6x6 base from white Bazzill Swiss Dots cardstock and used BG Bittersweet and Urban Prairie papers. I cut the BG Bittersweet Almond Toffee paper with the largest circle Nestie and cut the largest petite scalloped circle in Bazzill Brown Bling for the mat! I embossed a strip of the Urban Prairie Bluebird paper with the Heart Blocks Cuttlebug Embossing folder and sanded it!
The cupcake is paper pieced with the BG pp. Sweetheart Tilda is stamped on Georgia Pacific paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured with Copic markers and Twinkling H2Os. A while back Nicole asked me about how I use Twinkling H2Os to colour my images. Well, I colour the image first with Copics and just use the Twinkling H2Os just to give a little more depth and a really nice shimmery effect.
On this image, I used Warm Pecan, Meridian Blue, African Jade, Almond Beige and Baby's Breath on her cheeks. I apply the paint with a Aquabrush. First adding a few drops of water into the pot and then I apply small amounts of Twinkling H2O paint to the image where I want to add a shadow or more depth to the colour. My favourite colours are Warm Pecan, Baby's Breath, Rose Gold and Almond Beige. Because I'm mainly colouring the image with my Copics, I stamp it on smooth paper, therefore, I don't use a lot of water as the paper will buckle if you get it too wet!
So back to the card.....The sentiment was printed and the edges inked with chalk ink and matted on circles cut with Petite scallop circle Nesties! All items were pot dotted and layered.
Some yummy American Craft ribbon and Shimmerized Prima flowers finish it off! The inside cards was finished with some off cuts and another sentiment was cut and inked!!!

Kim & Tara Challenge # 5....Let your Light shine!
It's that time again!!! Yup, time for another exciting edition of the Kim & Tara Challenge!!!!
This time, Kim, from Kraftin' Kimmie's Korner, sent me this super adorable, just released yesterday, High Hopes image called, Jenny's Glow Bugs and the super sweet sentiment to go with it! I was soooo excited to get a High Hopes image...this is my very first,YAY!!!
So, I sent Kim this great Fancy Pants paper from the Michelle Coleman, Splendid collection. I really love this Valentine's paper but I think it is super versatile and would work for just about any happy occasion!
Now, do ya recall how this all goes down!? I'll recap for ya, Kim didn't know what paper I was sending her and I didn't know what image she was sending me!! Now, there is the potential for this to go south, fast! But we pulled it off again!!! I think this paper and image is a super combo!!!!
I coloured Jenny, inspecting her catch, with my Copic markers and used white acrylic paint for the high lights! I picked up my first jar of Shimmerz Paints at Stamping Bella on Friday! I went with Angle Wings, as, I thought it would be a good, all-purpose shimmerz, to start with and Nicky agreed (Hey Nicky*wave*!!!) So, I coloured in the glow bug's wings with the shimmerz and while I had it out, I added it to a few of the Prima flowers too! I can totally see how this shimmery goodness could become veerrrrry addictive...uuummm...yes, this could be a problem, smile!
Now, I have seen such fab stitching on so many cards out there in blogland! I think it just adds so much warmth and character to a card! So, I finally pulled out my clunker of a sewing machine, that my Mom gave me, and I fiddled with it, for what seemed like hours, trying to get it threaded etc. etc! When I finally got it all set up, I gave it a go! So, let's just say, I still have a lot to learn about sewing in a straight line, smirk! Yeah, definitely need some practice in the ol' sewing department, lol!!

Now, I can tell you, Kim's card is super sweet, as, I already had a sneak peak! So, what are you waiting for, go check it out on her blog!!!!

BasicGrey Challenges # 21...Let's Mix it Up.....Sweet!
Well, Are you ready for the weekend!? I sure am! I had another crazy week at work and it just flew by! I am so glad it is the weekend and time to make some cards, play in my scrapbooking nook and relax! It's Also, my b-day tomorrow!!!! I can't believe I will be 37 tomorrow...*yikes*!!!!
I am not sure what my hubby and the kids have planned but I am sure they have something in the works! The kids have managed this year to not let it slip....not even Kieran, lol!!! Who is known for his interesting way of "hinting" at birthday gifts, smile! I guess that means they are growing up too, sigh!!!
Well, it is also time for the BG Challenges and.....
"This week we would like you to mix it up, we would like you to use at least two different BasicGrey ranges in your creations, for eg Blush papers and Boxer Brads or Archaic chip stickers, Sultry papers and cupcake fibers, the possibilities are endless, so what are you waiting for lets mix it up"
So, I made a cardbase 6x6 from Bazzill Basics White Swiss Dots cardstock (love this cardstock) and the BG papers I used are Raspberry Cream from Bittersweet, Classy from Sultry, Delectable and Pleasing from Sugared. I used 4 large white brads from Wassail and the small pink brad is from Bittersweet!
I used my Silhouette and a new Valentines Digital Design from QuicKutz to make the chocolate covered strawberry! I cut all the pieces out of Bazzill Blig cardstock and pop doted it on the papers that I cut with the label one Nesties.
I stamped Valentine Tilda with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Georgia Pacific paper and coloured her with Copic markers. I got a chance this week to read Claudia's post about tips for colouring with Copics and she had some fabulous colour suggestions. I highly recommend going to her blog Pretty Pressings and reading those posts. So, I coloured Tilda's hair with Buttercup Yellow Y21 and Brick Beige E31...I really like how it turned out!
I added a little Crystal Stickles here and there to Tilda and the strawberry for some extra sparkle! The brown crushed velvet ribbon is from Micheals and the Metal accents are from Making Memories that I have had in my stash forever!!!
I really enjoyed mixing and matching my BG papers and brads! It isn't something that I tend to do. It was a great challenge for me and I will definitely do it again as I now realize many of the papers from the different collections coordinate so nicely with each other!
I hope you have some fun stampin' today and join in the fun at the BG Challenges blog and "mix it up"!!!!
Hug,
