Seek and Learn Edwin...Tilda & Co. Challenge!!

Today, I thought I would take Jacqui up on her suggestion to pop on over to Tilda & Co. and check out this week's wonderful sketch and DT cards.!!!Jacqui and the other DT members all have beautiful cards on display (go check it out for yourself) but I was especially inspired by Aija's card. So, I went and visited her blog,WOW!!! All her cards are absolutely stunning!!! So, right in to my blog list her ULR went. I will definitely be back to see more of her fabulous creations and breathtaking colouring!!!
I hardly ever use my Edwin stamps even though I love him just as much as I love Tilda, giggle! Well, I've been muling over some ideas for a card for Kieran's teacher. Kieran is in grade 2 now and he has been struggling with learning to read and spell. His teacher has been wonderfully supportive so I want to thank her for all her help, encouragement and thoughtfulness and I think this card will do just that!
For this card, I cut a 6x6 base from Kraft cardstock and used my BasicGrey 6x6 pad of Archaic pp. I don't have oval Nesties, yet! So, I cut the oval and scalloped oval mat on my QK Silhouette. I Also, cut the QK digital download apple border out of a scrap of green Bazzill Basic cardstock and trimmed it to fit inside the oval. I inked all the edges with my chestnut roan cats eyes ink and Tim Holtz distress ink, Corduroy Brown, with the inking applicator. I pop dotted one little apple for some added dimension and I cut the photo cornors with a 2x2 Qk die.
I stamped Edwin with spectacles (not sure of his real name) on Georgia Pacific cardstock with my new Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured Edwin in with my Copics. I added some white highlights with my MM Spotlight white acrylic paint and a fine tip brush and then added a bit of sparkle here and there with my Sakura Startdust pen. I also, went over his specs with the Sakura clear glaze pen.
I added the strip of measuring tape twill to the bottom as per the sketch but I decided against making a bow. I wanted to keep the card more masculine and I thought it would look odd with the measuring tape tied into a bow...hope that is ok. I added a few mini buttons by the number 2 to denote that Kieran is in grade 2 this year. Finally, I stamped the Autumn Leaves ticket stamps out on some of the BG pp and punched it out with my ticket punch and inked the edges.

So, I will add an inside sentiment thanking Mrs. Evans for her all her support, patients and encouragement of Kieran. It is such a relief knowing he has a fabulous teacher this year and together we can help Kieran get through this little bump in the road to learning!!!

Oh, don't forget to check out my blog candy!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Scrapbook Tilda says..."Let's Crop!" Friday Sketchers # 21!!!

I bet ya didn't know Tilda was a scrapbooker, smile! Well, she is one crafty girl, let me tell ya, lol!

I have been musing about this card all week. So, when I got home from work yesterday afternoon, I hopped on the computer to see what the FS sketch looked like. Fabulous!!! Another great sketch by Mumur! It was the perfect fit for my idea to turn Tilda with Pencils into Scrapbook Tilda!!!

I cut a 6x6 card base from some Kraft cardstock and inked all the edges with my all time favourite chalk ink, ColorBox Cat's eyes in Chestnut Roan. I then riffled through my pp and decided to use this Scenic Route paper that I absolutely love but haven't really used on my cards. I struggle using my 12x12 pp on cards as the scale of the pattern is so large but this pp worked out really well. I like the text that is on the pp and really wanted the "art happens" to show through!

I stamped Tilda's desk aka "scrapbook table" on Georgia Pacific paper with my new Memento ink, Tuxedo Black. (I am still adjusting to it after using Archival Brilliance for so long but I think I am going to like it with my Copics, although I wasn't so sure at first.) I masked the apple by covering that portion of the stamp with some low tack painters tape. I had to take a black fine tip pen and touch up some of the lines on the book but it turned out pretty good! I then stamped Tilda with Pencils too and coloured both with my Copics and added highlights with while acrylic paint.

Then I pulled out the plastic container that I keep all my Melissa Frances Rub-ons in and found some leftover "scrapbooking" rub-ons that were just perfect! I did a little hacking here and there to get them just right and well, I think they make the card come together! I love the little glue bottle and scissors...too cute! To follow the sketch that Mumur made I needed an accent of some kind at the bottom. Then it came to me...Tilda needed scrapbooking luggage, of course!!! I know, I have a ton of supplies that I lug with me to crops and scrapbooking retreats and Tilda, well, she is no different! I cut the tote out of co-ordinating pp on my Silhouette (just love that I can adjust the size to my needs) and cut the little tag from a QK 2x2 die and wrote Tilda's name on it!
I added some velvet ribbon, Stickles here and there and a few MM small flower brads to finish it off!!!!
So, I think this card is just so cute I may have to plan a crop and send a few of these cards to the members of my scrapbooking posse, lol!!! I know I would love to get an invite to a crop from Tilda!!!
Thanks for stopping by and havin' a wee look-see!!! I hope you have fun scrapbooking or stamping or doing something crafty today!!! I, unfortunately, will not be. I am off to Toronto with my best friend and co-worker, Donna, to attend a workshop on Skopos Translation Theory...sound exciting...not really, eh!? Well, I am actually interested in it and hope to learn a lot!!!
Oh, Don't forget to check out my blog candy!!! Let me know your 5 favourite things that you use or do when you're crafting!

Dancing with the Stars Pool...Ya Game???

Edited scroll down!!! PIC OF PRIZE ADDED SCROLL DOWN!!!

Hey all you stampers, card makers, scrapbookers, crafters out there in the blogosphere!!!

Are you also a fan of the very popular tv show Dancing with the stars? Would you like to have a little fun while you watch season 7 with me? Well, I would like to run a "Dancing Pool" and would love for you to join in the fun!!!! So, are ya interested? Are you up for it?

Here is how it will work....Leave a comment on this posting before the Wednesday night elimination show (I think it is on at 8 pm). Pick who you think will be in the top three positions!

1st place is worth 15 points
2nd place is worth 10 points
3rd place is worth 5 points

I will tally what your points are and the person with the 30 points who picked all three places correctly, will be the winner!

Now usually with pools people pay a nominal fee to enter and then that money goes towards the prize. that would be too hard to do through the blogosphere. So, I may be able to scrounge up some blog candy for the winner of the pool but it is more just to have FUN!!!!!

Sound okay?

EDIT

I have a very cute prize for the winner of the pool!!!! I will take a pic and post it soon. Well,Here it is!!! Is this cute or what!? I bet you wanna play along now!?

I thought, if we have a tie several ways then the person who posted their picks first will win the prize. Does that sound fair?
Also, my daughter Hannah asked if she can play along. So, she and I will post our picks but we will not be eligible for the prize.
So, be sure to watch tonight, then make your decision on who your think will end up in the top three and leave a comment here stating your picks!!!

Hope you will play along! If I only get a few people to enter I will still run the pool. But let your blogging friends know so that we can have some FUN with it!!!! The more the merrier!!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Tilda gathers Mushrooms....Kimmie and Tara's Challenge #1!!!

Isn't this exciting...YAY!!!! Kimmie, from Kraftin' Kimmie's Korner and I, are having our own little challenge! We agreed to pick a stamp that we both have and to make a card with it. Then post it on our blogs today. Well, here is mine!!! I got a little carried away cuz I just love this stamp, Tilda gathers Mushrooms, and I love this new BG Ambrosia pp too. I also wanted to impress Kimmie, grin!!! So, I ended up making two cards. Kinda like my version of a Kimmie two-fer, smile!!!!!

Again, I designed these cards inspired by the LifeArt of Ali Edwards and I am so happy with how they turned out....wada ya think!?

The sentiments are MM rub-ons and the leaves are a QK Squeeze 2X2 die and I also used my large and small Magnolia swirl stamp and Magnolia Owl. Doesn't he look so astute...I think he is helping Tilda find all the yummy mushrooms to pick, smile!!!

For the Give Thanks card, again I used my Magnolia swirl stamps and I also used the leaves from the new Fall Stampclub set. I coloured the leaves in with my Copics and cut them out and placed them to look as if they are blowing in the wind. I also used the small tree line from the new Fall Stampclub set. The sentiment and words are MM rub-ons. I really like this card it looks like Tilda is having a very productive day foraging for fall mushrooms in the forest, with the crisp autumn leaves crunching under foot. I just love the Autumn it is my favourite time of year!!!

Well, thanks for stopping by and having a wee look-see! Kimmie and I are planning to have our challenge once a month!!! Make sure you check back to see what we come up with!!!

Oh, I also wanted to let you know that Carole has some fabulous blog candy up on her blog StarDust Gems and Ribbon ....go check it out!!!

later!

(Oh, don't forget to watch Dancing with the Stars...tonight it's the premier show (1 of 3)...can't wait!!! Any other Dancing fans out there???)

Tilda, Back to school!!! Paying homage to Ali!!!!

Here is another card that I made this weekend inspired by my favourite LifeArtist, the one; the only, Aliiiii Edwards!!!! Yay, whoo hoo, Whoop Whoop!!!! I know I am going a little crazy....I think I have been spending too much time in my scrapbooking room and the Zip Dry fumes are starting to affect me, he he he!!!

No really, I have had so much fun making these cards and they have come together so quickly too. This little Tilda is just too adorable all set to go back to school. I love her sassy little hair cut and her cute outfit. I so wish I could dress like her...what ya think...could I pull it off...nah, I don't think so either, lol!!!!

So, for this card I made the 6X6 base from brown Bazzill Basics cardstock and used my new Ambrosia BasicGrey pp. Ok, I absolutely LOVE this pp!!! It is so gorgeous,OMG!!!! I have been dieing to use my new QK Silhouette apple border digital download (dd)...okay that is a mouthful or a handful, wink! I love the mesh dd they look like Ki Memories lace paper and I love that I can cut it out of any colour paper I want, very cool! I pop-dotted an apple die cut on top of the border to give it a little more dimension. I really like how the apple border turned out! I will defiately use it again!

For the main image, I stamped Tilda on Georgia Pacific paper with Archival Brilliance Black Graphite ink and coloured her in with my Copics. I used white acrylic paint for the highlights and some Sakura stardust pen for some glitter. I also, added a cute QK butterfly rub-on. For the sentiment I stamped my Magnolia label stamp on a scrap of the BG pp and inked the edges. Both sentiments are from an Autumn MM rub-on pack that I have had in my stash forever. Then I stamped the small Magnolia apple in the corner of the sentiment tag and added a little Stickles.

Well, I hope you can come back and visit tomorrow cuz I have something really exciting to share with you...no, its not blog candy yet but that was a good guess!!! I will have blog candy soon when I get a little closer to 5, 000 hits....so stay tuned for the deets on my first ever blog candy....and pop by tomorrow!!!

Thanks for stopping by and havin' a wee look-see!!!!

Homemade...everybody's favorite!!!! Friday Sketchers # 20

So, if you have read my little bio on the side of my blog you will know that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, Ali Edwards. Yes, that is right I'm an Ali devotee. She is an absolute scrapbooking phenom!!!!I am just so inspired by her concept of LifeArt and I aspire to be a lifeArtist too. I love her style and her philosophy on scrapbooking, paper crafting and life in general. I have all her books, and refer to them often. I visit her blog regularly and love all her articles in Creating Keepsakes magazine too. She is such a wealth of knowledge, inspiration and creativity in all that she does. When I first started scrapbooking over 6 yrs ago I would just copy her designs right down to the last brad and then I tried to develop my own style. Well, the cards I am making this weekend are all inspired by Ali's style but are still true to me!!! I really like how they came out and it was fun using products on my cards that I usually just use on my scrapbooking pages.

Well, I must be channeling Ali or something crazy like that cuz the creativity is just a flowin' out of me today, lol!!! I can't make the cards fast enough before another fab idea pops into my head....this NEVER, EVER, EVER happens to me....Ali must be sending some creative brain waves or some of her LIfeArt vibes all the way from Oregon, smile!!!!

So, this week's fabulous sketch at Friday Sketchers is by Kristine. I really enjoy all the sketches that the SS DT come up with and this one is no exception...it was great fun to work with...way to go Kristine!!!!

For this card I made the base 6X6 from Kraft cardstock and used new BG Eva 6x6 pp pads. I have been dieing to use this little Tilda with pie stamp since I got it from Phebe at the Town Scrapper. I have so many ideas for it...not just apple pie... but cherry or what about strawberry rhubarb pie...YUM-O!!!!! Well, this time Tilda baked up a cherry pie for someone special...I wonder who!?

Anyway, I stamped her on Georgia Pacific paper with Archival Brilliance Black Graphite ink and coloured her in with Copic markers and added some highlights with white acrylic paint and some sparkle to her wings and the pie with my Sakura Stardust pen. I wound some string around the pp and then cut 3 small squares with my Nesties dies. One thing that Ali always talks about in her books is grouping embellishments or in her words finding a "home" for them. The column of squares is the perfect "home" for the QK dies that I wanted to use. I used my new cherry 2X2 die and a couple of QK primitive hearts. In the last square I wanted to, as Ali says, "tell a story with words" and MM wordfeti is perfect for that.

Well there you have it...I have made several other cards but I think I will keep them for another day, smile!

On another note, I am getting close to 5, 000 hits and would like to share the love, so, I will be having some blog candy soon.....please stay tuned for the deets!!!

Thanks for stopping by and havin' a wee look-see!

It's all about the BLING, baby!!! MFT's WTG Challenge # 1!

I was able to flex my day, today as I have to work tonight. So, guess what I did with my morning off, he he he!!! I played in my scrapbooking room...YAY!!! I don't usually get to do this and it was a lot of fun. Surprisingly, I whipped this card up in record time for me. I tend to be a slow poke when it comes to scrapbooking and card making but not this morning.

So, Yesterday Kimmie mentioned on her blog about a new MFT challenge that will happen every Monday featuring a different Who's That Girl! stamp. I just love all the MFT sets and have been collecting them but I don't use them that much and really, I should. So, this challenge is just the motivation or "big kick in the buttocks" that I needed to pull out my WTG sets and use more than just the sentiments.

This weeks challenge is to use Rain or Shine and to BLING it up, so that is exactly what I did!!! (sidebar....if you are wondering what that little black thing is in the top right hand corner of the card...I think it is a bug hitching a ride on my card when I took my pics outside in the garden, lol)

I had some left over Daisey Buckets pp from another project and I thought it would be perfect for this card. The card base is 6X6 and cut from a sheet of white Bazzill Basics cardstock. I stamped the main image on Georgia pacific paper with Archival Brilliance Black Graphite ink and coloured it in with my copics and paper pieced the WTG's rain coat and her cute doggie's rain coat too. I tried a new tip I picked up from Jacqui called water washing with a Sakura Stardust pen on the little puddle of water. I went around the edge of the puddle with the stardust pen and then I took a water brush and spread the glitter all around. Now even the puddle has a little bling goin' on. I used 3 different colours of Bazzill Bling cardstock and cut the scalloped mat out on my QK Silhouette using a QK digital download. I added some bling to her umbrella and around the sentiment which I printed on my computer using the font Wendy Medium. Now, if you are thinking that sentiment sound awefully familiar it's cuz it is a line from Rihanna's song "Umbrella"!!!! I just love using song lyrics as sentiments on my cards and I thought this would be perfect. So, then I had a light bulb moment but not sure if it translates as well as I had hoped. I cut several QK 2X2 musical notes out of some light blue Bazzill bling cardstock. They are suppose to be musical rain drops...not sure if it works. What do ya think?

So, now I have to figure out how t post my card to SCS and I am done!!! Got go jump in the shower and head off to work!

Thanks for stopping by and having a wee look-see!!!

Viva Las Vegas & Friday Sketchers # 18...Snowed In...So I am a little late!!!

Well, I am back from Sin City! We had a great time in Vegas....Viva Las Vegas!!! So, I wasn't really snowed in, he he he, that is a reference to my latest card!!! Actually, it was about 40 degrees Celsius the whole time we where there but it is true what they say about the "dry" heat. It does make it a little more bearable without all the humidity like we have here. I have to tell you that it sure is a LOT of walking though. The casino/hotels are massive and "the strip" goes on forever. My feet were sooooo sore! I won't gross you out with the details but if you ever venture to Las Vegas, forgo fashion for comfort and bring comfy walking shoes, that is my little tip, wink! We did have a little luck at the slot machines too. We won about $600 in Paris (the casino). That was very exciting!!! We aren't big gamblers but it was fun to play a little on the slots. I don't know how to play any card games so we just stuck with the slot machines. I can see how it could become addicting though. But I already have an addiction, lol! I would rather spend my $$$ on stamps and pretty paper. Hubby is saving our casion winnings for our next vacation!

We also, saw two Cirque Du Soleil shows, O and Zumanity. Both were absolutely fabulous and definitely worth seeing! Zumanity, was a little, shall I say, risque (it is rated R as many of the female performers are topless) but it was very funny too. It was very much like a Vaudeville show... I enjoyed it a lot! And instead of getting a t-shirt that says Las Vegas on it for a souvenir. I got a fabulous leather purse that has the Zumanity Cirque Du Soleil logo embossed on it. I am so in love with my new purse...it is gorgeous!!!

We have been back for a few weeks now but I came down with a shore throat (viral) when we got back. So, I was just feeling a wee bit punky and not very creative or up to sitting in front of the computer. That is why I haven't posted in a few weeks or visited any of your blogs or left a comment...my apologies. But I was so thankful for all the lovely comments that were left for me while I was away. I had the comments forwarded to my blackberry...it was nice to get to read them on our drive to the airport and waiting for our flight, smile!

So, I am a little behind on all of the challenge blogs that I like to participate in. I really wanted to make a card with Friday Sketchers # 18 by Jacqueline...it is a fabulous sketch...i just love it! I have to tell you, I am not a huge fan of our Canadian winters as I'm petrified of driving in the snow...I am a big chicken, giggle! But I have been so inspired by all the beautiful Christmas and winter themed cards that I have seen on various blogs that I wanted to make a wintery card too. I especially wanted to use this new stamp that I picked up at a LSS. It is by a local Canadian Stamp CO. called Rosewood Canada I hope to make a trip to their store as they have some great stamps...I really like the Canadiana stamps. That is where you can find the Snowed In stamp on their website and I also bought Winter Night too. I loved the name of this stamp so much that I used it for the sentiment on my card.

I made the card base 6x6 out of some blue Bazzill Basics cardstock and used some left over BG Figgy Pudding, 6X6 pp and 12X12 pp, from last years Christmas cards. I stamped "Snowed In" and this cute little Tilda stamp (I think she is called waiting Tilda) on Georgia Pacific paper with Archival Brilliance Black Graphite ink and coloured them in with my Copics. I used white acrylic paint to add a few highlights to Tilda and some crystal Stickles on both images. I cut both images with my circle Nestibilities and embossed the edges too. I also cut some snowflake pp with my Nestibilites to mat the image of Tilda and pop-dotted the image. I cut a few QK snowflakes and added a glitter brad to centre of the large snowflake and a few red rhinestones from the dollar store to the small QK snowflakes. I also added some crystal Stickles to the snowflake die cuts too.

The sentiment is printed with the 2 peas font Falling Leaves (one of my all time favourite fonts). Well, I am pretty happy with this card and It was nice to make a wintery card but I don't look forward to the real deal anytime soon. I would love to just keep the white stuff on my cards and not on the roads, lol!

Thanks for stopping by...oh, I have added the new "following" feature to my blog...don't you just love this feature, I do?! So sign up to follow my blog! I know I have been signing up to follow all the fabulous blogs that I love to visit...that way I am sure not to miss any fabulous creations, smile!!

I hope you all have a restful Sunday afternoon!!!
